Verto GeForce 8600 GTS

XLR8 GeForce 8800 GT

GeForce 8600 GT XXX

GeForce 8800 GT

Alright, so I'm going to buy a video card tomorrow. I can't spend over $250, and I'd much rather spend less than $200. Which of these cards has the best all around performance and price in one? Basically, given my situation, which one would you buy? I'm thinking one of the 8800s but which one, I don't know.

By the way, this is the store I am going to tomorrow. If you guys know of any better deals online for something similar or better for the same price, I would greatly appreciate it.

What are the rest of your specs?
where do you live?

8600=shit. Go for the EVGA 8800GT 512mb on that site. $220.

A mini-tower case might not be able to fit it.
At worst spend 70$ for a new ATX case.

a 3850 512mb or a 8800gs 384mb OC if you want a card for under under 200$. 8800gt if you want to spend a little over 200$.

That zotac is nice but I'll stick with the evga for price and for the sake of having it tomorrow to game on. I'll let you guys know how it works out for me. AND, if it fits.

having doubts about putting this card in my case. its supposedly 9 inches long. That will work but 4.376in height? I hope they mean width and not height. My current card is like an inch "high". 4.3in heigh just seems massive. Does anybody actually have this card and can tell me?

MIght have to unhook my front usb ports, and 56k card. thats not a big deal though.

and i only have a 300 watt psu.

mini-tower = fail

You can't run that card with a 300w PSU.

I would recommend the "new computer" route, or if financial problem, the "accumulate money" route.

rofl at me I'm not rich and my mommy and daddy don't buy everything for me. Also, I know the difference between "two" and "too". But anyways...

I just got a Xion II case, 450 watt psu, and the eVga 8800gt. I got home to install it but I didn't have a sata to power adapter for my hard drive. I'm getting the adapter tomorrow and hopefully getting this beast pieced together. Like I said, I'll post some pictures of it after I'm done tomorrow.

You don't have to be rich or be spoiled to have an acceptable PSU. I find 400w PSUs on the junkyard on a daily basis. The 520w PSU in this computer, and the 480w in my reserve are both accuired for free. And a 500w PSU can go for under $20.

I do agree about the too/two thing. That's just a three-day journey too far on grammatical slaughter.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
