nah, but anybody that kills or tortures should probably be removed from society. i couldn't kill them with a clear conscience, bc i honestly cant judge people like that. but if somebody executed them, i wouldnt care. i dont really get how people go from whatever their situation is, however bad, to flipping out and killing people. i guess some of them are just really fucking desperate or insane. either way, these kinds of things are so rare and extreme, thats why they just about always make it to print.
What of the person who executes the murderer? What of the government and judicial system that approves the act? What of the people that these bodies represent?
As dayarath put, it is absolutely stunning how a large majority of you are willing to so easily have people perish. Morally, I am shocked.
A man breaks into your home. You attempt to get him out by threat of harm, and instead he beats you to an inch of your life. He then rapes both your wife and daughter infront of you, then executes both. He runs and tries to flee the law for 3 months before being caught.
He is brought before trial and found guilty on the first degree of every crime he committed at your house 3 months ago. Would you honestly let that fucking scumbag live?
You are speaking of an emotional response, which has been separated from many modern judicial systems since their inception for good reason. Therefore, we can exclude your scenario from any debate of the judicial system.
However, if we do debate the personal response that one might have to such a situation as you posited, it is a different situation. For one, we have now chosen to debate about the possibilities of singular scenarios, which is limited and almost irrelevant. Not everyone is unlucky as Charles Bronson's character in the
Death Wish series. Additionally, the act of murder is not so easy. Of the crimes committed, how many revenge killings occur from distraught family members? Very few. It is because we should be rational and make sound decisions, and committing murder is not easy. Who among us has the will to do so? Speaking of it is far different than the actions.
And what of the avenger? Did he not murder someone?
