Just curious if anyone else is experiencing a similar problem ?  prior to the patch I did not have any problems...

I am playing on a Dell 9300 laptop...gig of memory, gforce 6800 GT 256mb card....settings on medium at 1600 x 1200

I had no real issues before...I am on wireless and my pings usually hang in the 40's to 70's for the most part.  Did a speed test and the bandwith is always above 2.5 mbps.

When in the game...I can be playing and get  A LOT of studdering and screen freezes....then the all too familiar "THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR CONNECTION"

which then leads to me loosing the connection to the server....

Last night this happened on every server i played on...even ones that i have been on 100 times before without any problems.

WOULD DEFRAGING my HD help ?  I am kind of at a loss as to what to try next...I would have a hard time thinking it could be the wireless connection as that hasn't caused me any problems in the past.

Any info would be appreciated...

Thanks,

Leeland

I think you could maybe check for spyware, adware, tweak your firewall maybe and i think that defragging your hard drive could be beneficial.

So when you say to tweak the firewall/router..

are there any special ports that need to be open for BF2 to run opptimally ?

I have the same problem, that spuddering kind of freezing for a split second then working. Happens every 30 or so seconds. And I have been getting that 'Lost Connection to Server message a lot know' IM on a wireless to. This to me is the only problem in 1.2. All the AA and planes and helos bithing is usless. its fine. you ALL will get used to it. But the lag and red name bug all need to be fixed. It boggles my mind why Ea and Dice could not fix this

I have your big brother for PC (XPS M170), playing on wireless too...

Yes do a defrag.

After you played the first few times (BF2 has to "optimize" shaders) or once you played a day map and a night map... then do a defrag.

I did had one "THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR CONNECTION"  but it was on the server, as everyone got kick from the server I was playing on.

I play on HIGH and the game run smooth... except the "lagging" effect you may feel when you go prone/stand, but that's not lag... everything else is OK.

And night maps in SF are one of the best "untold" story of this fix.... I liked it before and now it's just beautiful with no "dark" area on night vision.

I've now been getting that loss of connection thingy too, amongst other anoying errors. Bloody patch seems to have caused more technical issues than ever!

I know I feel at the mercy of the damn game...everything else stays the same on the rig...put in a patch and it runs like ass afterwards...sounds about right

And that new sniper rifle is a bad addition to the game....now anyone can get a one shot kill....takes all the skill out of the kit if you ask me

I got the exact same thing, sometimes the server would load. I would click "join" It would freeze then all of a sudden.... "you have lost connection" out of nowhere.

If I was lucky enough to make it in the server I would keep getting "..problem with your connections" and stuttery gameplay.

This is very annoying: i cannot play a single round anymore without "connection problems" or just plain disconnects since i installed this patch 1.2.
I used the incremental  patch  from 1.12 to 1.2.
Using the same ADSL connection, same computer, same firewall settings etcetera as before.

This was never the case in previous patches the last months i  was online, so for myself i am convinced it has to do with the new patch.

EA/DIce may have addressed some issues considering gameplay, i find it most annoying to have connection hickups every other minute in game. Is it true they not officially support  64 player games anymore?
Either they did not test enough (again) or they rushed this patch to market .

Anyone else having considerably more connection hickups  with this 1.2 patch ?

Note: i posted the above in the official patch 1.2 complaint thread, but it seemed out of place there between all the whining about the gameplay (jets versus AA and such).

hmm, whitewolf1111 that post doesn't have anything to do with the regular topic, I would post a new one to get a proper response.

Besides that, and back to the topic, I also get this problem quite a bit with my system.  I only have a gig of ram, and one of the sticks has errors (I'm working on sending it back to mushkin as I type) so maybe that might be the cause of my problems.  I, too many times, have been playing then gotten dropped from a server in the middle of the round to not be able to join again because it became full, or if I do I get autoed onto the losing team :-x.  I sometimes get it right when I push "join game", it is like when your pc lags and the sound repeats for x-seconds that you lag out and the server sees your ping skyrocket and kicks you.

Yeah. Got these errors only after 1.21...
So I think they changed their netcoding to more sensitivity to packet loss.
