I notice sometimes, there are videos over 10 minutes long, if only a minute or two longer. Youtube has a 10 minute "limit" yet some videos get past that.

Basically I have an 11 minute song I want to record on Audiosurf but I don't want to waste time recording and editing it if it won't upload. My question is

How do people get songs over 10 minutes long onto youtube?

You mail the admins a special request.

Also, before 2006, you could upload more than 10 minutes of video.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

You need to be a director. I think you can change that somewhere in your profile. There was Guru, Musician, Director, and plain YouTuber.

Go to account, under Manage My Channel, go to Channel Info, to the right of channel type, Change Channel Type -> Director

Until 2006.

That feature has been disabled for ages.

Yes, you can be director, but you can't upload longer videos for that. I could put up 10+ minute videos before, but not since they changed it. (And the bastards removed my 10+ videos, too!)
