The amount of people playing on servers whenever I look, still amazes me.
If BF3 is an improved bf2, then and only then will bf2 "die"
ie. the majority of the players will move on.

Many moons. Even after BF3 comes out, people will still play BF2. I know guys who still play Quake 3 and I bet everyone here knows someone who still plays CounterStrike (just because it's "Source" now doesn't change the game).
if bf3 is as good as that one sketch investor info-sheet or whatever has it made out to be, then it will die then. if not, it will die shortly after, because everyone will realize their playing a game thats 4 years old. and by die, i mean go to the status that BF1942DC is currently.

I believe BF3 = 1.5 Patch for BF2 but you're pretty much just paying for it... I'm sure bf2s will be around for a while though don't worry.

I dont think it will die anytime soon. CoD (First one) still is going strong. I play it still with many other people.
Never! There are still people playing wolvenstein enemy territory, Halo 1, quake etc. And those games are 5+ years old.
People are even still playing the first Unreal Tournament and that game is so old even jesus got to play it.
I re-installed BHD a few moths ago and there were still many full servers.

I just reinstalled it. Not sure if its ever going to die with everyone still playing it.
CS 1.6 still has an ass load of populated servers, and it came out in 1999.

Raven Shield still lives, BF2 will live longer for sure! With the ranks, them medals, precious memories, old favorite enemies.... Well it could last as long as Super Mario or something for what I know. It is a popular game between us gamers who loves FPS so I don´t see any reasons why it would die now suddenly...
