Well for the past 3 months no updates will install right on my pc. I have windows vista 32 bit. I have even tried installing them manually threw there website and that won't work either. I am just wondering how I can go about fixing this. The last thing I want to do is reinstall windows. Any help will be appreciated. I tried to get some pictures up but putfile made the pictures really small so you all won't be able to see what I'm talking about. Right now I have a least 50 updates that failed and I've ran my virus program like 20 times and nothing came up. Could firewalls prevent windows updates from updating ? This is really weird.
I'm not sure this works for vista, but I had the same problem on XP. Turns out I had to enable some Microsoft Office service.
At work (I repair pc's soft and hardware) we had one with the same problem, on XP, couldn't update, and worst of all, the wuauclt.exe thing was running 100%.
I renamend c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution to something like SoftwareDistributionOld. that did the trick.
HOWEVER this is vista, so I'm not sure if this works the same in XP and messing in your windows map is never a good idea if you don't know what you're doing. Make backups ^^. (although you can always rename them again with a liveCD of linux for example, maybe in safe mode even.
