Anyone have tricks to avoiding missles in airplanes before the patch I use to just make sharp left or right turns but it doesn't seem to be working that well in this patch I get hit a lot anyone know any good tactics?

In 1.2, pretty much. Any other way isn't too effective, but the most effective of the few is:

1. Wait until you have a clear tone (launched).
2. Drop flares. (if you don't have any, you're screwed)
3. Put on afterburners. (if you don't have any, you're stupid and/or screwed)
4. Turn HARD left or right. Or dive or whatever.
