It's such bullshit. So basically, America's not going to be choosing who the nominee is. A bunch of politicians and other people will be.

Wow.

gg America.
You mean delegates picking niminees?  And this is new as of when? So which party is really lying to you?

What about the Republican superdelegates?

Oh, wait. Nevermind. The Republicans have this crazy set up where they just go with what the people vote for.

That'll never work.

On a serious note: Every registered Democrat should be screaming to their state and national level party HQs for reform.

It seems to me like this is happening early enough that it'll be such a big story once the DNC rolls around that the Superdelagates will vote for Obama. They will be shunned into oblivion if they vote for Hillary when she's doing so badly just because she asked them.

Dem's know from the two (one?) election that Bush won even though not through the popular vote that you go by the vote not by some backdoor route.

Additionally, if a backroom deal does select Hillary, there will be a significant portion of the Democrat base casting their ballots for McCain, which will eliminate any chances of getting the presidency back to the left side of the aisle. If the Democrats were thinking rationally, they wouldn't allow superdelegates overrule the majority of their party base.

Right, more, they just wouldn't elect hillary if Obama won the nat'l vote (or at all if they wanted a chance to get the presidency back to left). It really doesn't help that McCain is a fairly liberal republican.

I didn't realise the Republicans had a normal system that actually makes sense. I figured superdelegates just hadn't been mentioned since McCain had such a huge lead. Reform is definitely needed.

I had a quick look into it, apparently Republicans have 123 super delegates, Democrats have nealry 800.

That would be Republicans 1 : Democrats 0.

I've been wondering since last nights media coverage about going in and voting for Hillary. I'm in the Great State of Texas, early primary voting started on Monday and goes through March 4th. What I'm thinking is this could keep her in the race longer, and from all the hoopla talk, she wont back down, even if she has the popular vote. I'm not an expert with all the new Democratic rules in place this election, but I think this would support my cause. I do know that if I did this, it would not actually count my vote for the main election.
