...

So I bought a Samsung SyncMaster 204b in June of 2006 for 429 dollars.  I paid 40 dollars for a 3 year replacement plan.  I'm hoping that they'll honor it for one dead pixel... and if they do I don't think that fry's has the 204b in stock anymore.  So what monitor do I get with a $430 dollar budget?

EDIT: I'm thinking this one

Hell I'll take your monitor if it only has One Dead Pixel.  I still have a big ol' crate.

I think it would depend on where the dead pixel was, and if they were able to repair it. I know with best buy once the replace a device it voids your remaining warranty.

They flicked it and it went back

Guess I can only dream of 1920x1200 sitting here with my 1600x1200.

*sigh*

I have had a dead pixel ever since my laptop came back from Alienware (after about a 3 months wait).

I thought "Fuck it, I ain't sending it back to the bastards again" and hardly notice it anymore...

i think they have some minimum for how many dead pixels it will take to replace it... i don't think one is enough.  i remember asking specifically about this when i was going to buy an LCD tv, and they said it needs like more than 20 for replacement.  you gotta watch those fuckers at best buy...

Nearly every manufacturer has a dead pixel warranty (Samsung certainly does), note it's the manufacturer not the retailer that does that.

I've heard of software that will somehow magically "fix" a dead pixel.

Anyways, closed at OP's request.

Could add to the thread that 'massaging' the dead pixels mostly brings them back to life.
Often just touching the screen lightly on the dead pixel will do.
