[KNTL] Peter : lowut
[KNTL] Kptk92 : wat
[KNTL] Peter : wth is this supposed to do?
[KNTL] Kptk92 : What you found?
[KNTL] Peter : the *new door*
Uzique's view on the gaming industry, simplified:Uzique wrote:
I was equally as ecstatic when I saw this.
3 months for a new map which recycles all the previous maps' textures, a pointless door that doesn't help anything, and some 'optimizations'!
This game was getting stale already with the current map rotation and limited gametype/s... Valve really are being slow about things.
Valve already have our money. You should be grateful that they're being incredibly generous by dedicating all their time to updating and adding to a game they've already sold and aren't going to get any more money for. No other company (well, besides Epic) would do something like that.Uzique wrote:

They take a while to release stuff because they want to be sure it's as best, balanced and bug-free as possible before it is released.
Recycled textures? What did you expect, a map set in space? Anyway the textures are hardly the most impotant part of the map. There's a thing called a *layout* and *structure* of a map. The new one is unique.
Also, that door isnt pointless at all. It was added for a reason.
If you want more maps, play custom ones. There is a lot of variety there.
Stop complaining.
I really was wondering just how long it'd be before everyone started complaining about the regular free additions and bug fixes. Get a grip.

You sound surprised.Uzique wrote:

So that you can get to the left side. Sometimes there is too much spam of demo bombs and rockets on the other side to make it there.LaidBackNinja wrote:
What does the new door do? Is it for rocket jumping or something?
so... you going to take over valve and do it faster yourself then?Uzique wrote:
I understand the need for time in order to ensure quality... but honestly, 3-4 months for one single map and a doorway?

Are you saying the whole new achivement-unlock thing isn't coming out?Uzique wrote:
Yeah, you can jump off the bandwagon now and also go slate on everyone else that wasn't as appreciative of the new map in the 'Badlands- Yes or No?' thread. There's no need for a childish "Well you can't do better!" mentality, that grew stale on the playground. All I was simply stating is that 3-4 months is seemingly a long time for a developer team to come up with one map (which as everyone else has said in the other thread, uses the same textures and isn't very different at all).
Playtesting and fixes are a huge part of the development process, but again I will reiterate what I said previously; they brought out the self-deflating disappointment themselves by releasing hype and media announcements of these updates far before they were ready. The entire TF2 community was hyped up for new achievements and entirely-new guns/abilities for every class (woot teh toot!)... and in the end we got a map which isn't very different from anything else we've played before.
Maybe they also got new upcoming projects to do and they invested free time in it?Uzique wrote:
