I have some questions about this system. I want to get this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6829132002
to go with this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6836121120
And I had some questions (hopefully someone has this system). Does it use the standard jack size, so it would work with the sound card (this is for a laptop, so I need an external card, and the looks and mike are a nice bonus). and would it use the sound card, or not because of the control thingy.
The laptop is a Gateway P-6831FX:

karma for help, and thanks.

It will work. Friend has those speakers and they have analog jacks (what you need) and digital. Would recommend a digital card if you go with those speakers though. But it will work.

what do you want to do with those speakers? do you want to watch movies? listen to music? i would not recommend those speakers unless you really want to watch movies. if your going to game a little and play music i would get a pair of the m audio studio monitors. i use them in my professional recording studio(not really professional, but i call it that) and they are awesome. plus the will save you about a hundred and fifty bucks. on the other hand you could just get a nice set of headphones and a mic attached for about fifty bucks.

Thanks for the quick replies. Ill take a look at what M-audio has. As far as digital cards, is this what your talking about? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6815100022 its the only thing I get when I search on New Egg (at least that would go in a laptop- I get a few internal sound cards, but nothing external).

This is a TV card. I'll try to find something for your laptop. Btw i had an Audigy 2 NX and you just plug it into your USB port. Its also digital.
http://www.tomshardware.com/2003/11/14/usb_2/ Is it too big? Do you need something more portable?

Thanks guys- Ill send some more karma tomorrow. It will just be on my desk, since when I'm not in my room ill be using a headset for games, movies etc.  So it dosen't need to be super portable. The creative (internal) one looks good.

I have those speakers, they sound great. My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that the volume knob seems to be a little sticky. I have read this from other owners on line reviews as well, but it really isn't a big deal. I would recommend them.
