I am in the process of converting my old VHS home movies to DVD and I noticed that one of the tapes is messed up about half way through the video.

The damaged section is not torn or cut, it is kind of rolled or folded over itself.

I fear I will have to cut the tape itself and splice the two pieces together.

Have any of you done this before or know anything about how I should go about doing this repair without destroying the cassette completely?

Thank you for any info you post.

I've taped VHS tape together with Masking tape before. Worked like a charm.

i just bought a VHS/DVD player combo , the dvd player is also a burner.

it was an open box item in walmart and i only paid 50 bucks for it.

I think its worth like 300 or somthing

you can also just hook a VHS player to your tv and then buy a dvd burner and hook it to the same tv and then burn what the VHS player is playing.

its not as hard as it sounds

i do it with my tv tuner card and my pc.  I plug the vcr into the tuners input and record on the pc then convert to dvd format and burn.  His way is easier but i already had all the stuff to do it the way I do.  If you video card had video in you can also do it that way on the pc.
