This has nothing to do with being Anti America. I'm am against American foreign policies which interferer with other nations.
but Cuban foreign policies that interfere with other nations are conveniently ignored.   Its ok when cuba intervenes in a country's domestic affairs, just not the US.

Im amazed you cant see the hypocrisy within yourself

If their was consistency, then all the self righteous speeches coming from the white house over the past 50 years would actually mean something to me. Over the past 50 years.........how many dictators has the US supported? How many democratically elected governments have you helped over throw to be replaced with a western friendly dictator? You and I know, its a shit load.

When Europe was under threat of war in 1930's and throughout the war, all elections were suspended and Marshall law was declared in the UK. (not sure about the USA).

Cuba has the worlds largest military supper power 70miles away, poisoning its crops, pollute its air, try hundreds of way to assassinate its leader, fund Cuban Terrorists, harbour Cuban Airplane terrorists, attempt invasions and try and strangle the very life out of the country, I would say each is an act of war. And under such a threat democracy cannot work or even be attempted.

Who is to say what could have happened if the US had left Cuba to its own devices. If the threat of invasion had been lifted, who's to say Cuba wouldn't have had elections and democracy by now. The USA criticise, yet should take some of the blame for the lack of democracy,

You can say what you want for Fidel. But Cuba has a higher child literacy rate than the USA, its health care system is as good if not better at a 20th the cost. Cuban people live longer than anyone else in the Americas.............................weigh that up against the kind of US democratic model were their are huge gaps between Rich and poor and everyone is running on a consumer treadmill while working there arse off or sitting getting fat. I would say both people are equally as happy and equally as oblivious at the same time.
I think you need to understand, a nations government does thing in the interest of its citizens, not yours. There is no right or wrong there.

It's ok to imprison thousands of people, kill free speech, and criminalize political dissent... it's so the children can read.

How many Cuban Americans are sneaking back into Cuba? ... you know, for the free healthcare and excellent education system. Maybe you don't grasp the reasoning behind a government controlled media. I had always thought of you as an independent thinker JahManRed.

Cuban meddling in other country's affairs is a speck in comparison to what places like the UK and US have been up to.

@Kamrion.
Whatever you say about Cuba, they've had a vastly better last 49 years than almost anywhere else in central America.

I would have done the same with any other Central America country. His contention was that Cubans had it better than Americans.

Where did I say it was noble? I said they did the same thing, but less. One of the main reasons is simply their lack of possibility. I'm sure if Castro's Cuba was one of the richest countries in the world he'd have been up to far more meddling.

If we complain about Cuba doing something bad without pointing out that our countries have been doing the same thing on a far larger scale then we're complete hypocrits.

I'll refer back to what I already said:

Thousands of people die here in the UK because we have dirty wards. Over 50 people died in my local hospital last year from various bugs and infections caught in the hospital. And we are a democracy with one of the biggest economy's in the world. When I was in San Fransisco a guy we were with had a heart attack. He got adrenalin shots and woke up 2 hours after the attack in the waiting room with a security guard shouting and shaking him telling him to get out. He was then dragged and left laying on the kerb outside. He was in shorts and shirt and made the mistake of having a heart attack without the proper papers on him.  So I have some experience of USA 'healthcare'. I wonder if you had a heart attack in Cuba on holiday would they throw you on the street 2hours later?

Maybe the Cuban hospital is so shabby because the country is under sanctions. Maybe they don't have ambulances because the USA won't let them import the parts or medical equipment to build them.
Although I will admit that I am influenced by the media somewhat, as you say. But so are you. You seam to think the USA is entirly inocent when it comes to Cuba so I would argue that you don't do much free thinking yourself when it comes to Cuba and South America.

The figures are the important thing and they speak for themselves.
Cuba has recorded its lowest infant mortality rate for four decades, with 6.2 children in every 1,000 dying before the age of one.
According to figures from the United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF, Cuba - along with Canada - now has the lowest infant mortality rate in the Americas. The United States is second with seven in every 1,000 children. Guatemala has the highest infant mortality rate with 45 in every 1,000 children.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/1739773.stm

I am a free thinker of sorts Kamrion. That's why I ponder what might have happened if Cuba had been left alone after the the revolution to find its own way. If elections had been called after the revolution, you and I both know the United States would have tried everything in its power to put the most US friendly candidate in power. Such a person would have the USA's intrests at the front, not the Cuban peoples just like before the revolution Cuba would be exploited.
The disgraceful track record of clandestine operations in South America speaks for itself. You never mention your countries track record which is well documented, so you have bias as much as the next man. No one is truly a free thinker, if you watch and read the media its very hard to.

Wont really mean fuck all. Cuba is still Communist and the US hates Cuba (and Communism) and nothing will change. Cuba will remain Communist and the US will continue to hate Cuba.....

same thing goes the other way around as well.  You cant speak so well for cuba at the same time ignoring the things that the regime has done, the same things many people claim to hate the US for.   Its real selective history there.
