This thread is proof that  a lot of what you newbies wanted changed wasn't because of an inbalance but because you wanted the game babyfied so it would be more suited to your crappy style of play.
all these threads about how "i wasnt able to kill people my old shitty way but now i can" are direct evidence.
gamers with IQs above 90 never had trouble killing people at any point in this game's development and will continue to kill with ease, but now the game is dumbed down, idiot proofed, and babyfied. thanks for ruining another FPS girls.

What the hell are you talking about?
How has that anything to do with this thread?

Actually I could kill with LMG before. And it was OK for me before. But EA gives me 1.2 .... Why complain? I'll take it.

ComradeWho, you kinda sound like you got screwed in the patch...
You know, I thought it sucked too in the first few rounds, but then I learned how to play it with the new features and I'm doing just as good as I was doing before.

You're better off playing the game and learning how to play than complain about it...

Looks like he did get screwed a bit.  He's a sniper.  Probably sux for snipers to loose the accuracy advantage.

BTW - Gawwd...I'm better at knives than you.  And I haven't used them as much.

Nice post there OpsChief.  I was running off Helos with my PKM prior to 1.2, and will continue to do so in support of my team.

Oh yeah!  Any time I see a helo when playing support, I just lay into it.  I may not kill it, but if its not shooting at us anymore thats a plus in my book!

@Comrade if you'd read the thread your head wouldn't be bled

I will be nice and splain it to you. As you checked the dates you see this thread started b4 1.2 for the express purpose of generating interest in the use of LMGs as AA weapons and teamwork among other things. You will note many happy LMG users posting here. You will see we are talking about shooting down aircraft and owning snipers and all the good stuff. We were having alot of fun until stat mongers spoke up. You will also see a couple people who get disoriented when their assumptions are threatened. BF2 isn't an FPS game comrade.  It is an FPS/RPG/RTS hybrid sold under the FPS genre because EA didn't know what they had. HUD=FPS, Performance Metrics+Rank+Unlocks+hierarchical organization=RPG, Commander Mode=RTS. Ain't it great???

Next thing is the next guy who tries to talk about BF2 LMG accuracy needs to do some research b4 he speaks about tactical employment of weapons. While the EA data high % accuracy of the pistol or sniper is relevant, ANYONE with a high LMG accuracy is either using aimbot or using the gun very wrong or selfishly. LMGs are area suppressive fire weapons they are shall I say it, teamwork weapons. Now I know I used alot of acronyms, sentences, paragraphs and syllables in it but your IQ is over 90 so you can handle it. Be nice damnit.  lol

have a nice day and keep up the good work with your LMG

Maybe the accuracy difference is smaller now, but the sniper rifles got twice as accurate in 1.2.

This means that the "comfort zone" for snipers taking on LMG toters is at a longer range now, and that sniping for headshots at max draw distance (and beyond, if you have a spotter on VoIP) is now possible, especially with the 7.62 mm NATO (.308 Win) bolt action rifles.

I play around with the kits a lot, and I feel the balance is better now. It always irked me that a surprised sniper at 50 m would always manage to turn around and headshoot me even if i was already prone, zoomed, undetected and everything when he came strolling along. 1 or 2 bullets from each of two 3-round bursts was all that would hit before I grew a third eye. Come on, I shoot pistols better than that at 50 m (IRL and in the game).

I like sniping too, but I can live with the lower survival rate versus LMG at short-medium range if he opens up first.
Before 1.2, all a support man was saying to me by pulling that sweaty trigger was: Hello, here I am! Please kill me!

@Scorpio:

Actually, the sniper advantage has REALLY lessened. I am a huge supporter of smart sniping, whereas... you HIDE instead of hunking down in plain sight... and that still works fine, but now practically any ol' sucker can tag you rather than just spraying at the scenery around you. Not that it's not fun anymore, it is, and it's a lot more challenging, but to say that we've lost something is silly. I think the upgrades to the sniper rifles were totally unneccesary. I used to tag people at 100% view range all the time, the bullet drop never seemed to be a factor with the M24. At my max range I could still put the sights on the shadow of someone's head through the fog and tag them just fine.

It's just now they shoot back and actually hit things. Hit things that are attached to me. At full auto.

I looked closer at the new Wiki numbers and you are right: 0.1 min dev & 0.1(MG36) or 0.15(PKM) added per shot. #2 accuracy-wise, right behind the sniper rifles. While an LMG has a longer effective range than an assault rifle IRL, in the game this leads to balance issues. The guy with body armor, the largest "clip size" and unlimited ammo is also deadly accurate.

This discussion is OT, but I think the accuracy and damage order is screwed up. Some of it can be covered by the "for balance's sake" blanket (like carbines being more accurate and controllable than assault rifles), but some things are just silly. A shoulder-fired (zoomed) SMG in single shot mode is way more accurate than a pistol and should do *more* damage per shot, not less. An engineer or AT man in BF2 1.2 is better off using the pistol out to 100 m, semi-auto SMG beyond that (and expect to miss a lot), and the SMG on full auto for really close range (where the vanilla shotgun would probably be better).

Yeah, exactly! They're now better than the carbines... which makes me want my next rank and my support unlocks (I avoided them like the plague pre-patch) really, really badly. It's ridiculous though, the kind of accuracy you can get off them now. Soon you'll see all the snipers switching the support kits. *shudder*
