So the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area was supposed to get raped by a snowstorm last night. It was supposed to snow from 12AM to 6AM, and then there's supposed ot be freezing rain all day.

So I wake up at 530 or so, and I look out the window. Barely any snow, but it WAS raining... freezing I presume. I check the itnernet an hour later and, sure enough, school's closed! But then I screwed around on BF2s for a bit, took a shower, and then noticed that the streets were completely clear! I even went outside and there was barely any ice.

I'm not complaining, any day off (except if it was a day off due to some sort of terrorist attack, etc) is great. But damn, my school usually isn't so keen on closing.

Street's (not) closed due to (no) snow

Pool really IS closed, however... due to winter in general

It's snowing like hell in NY but we already had the week canceled for President's week. It never snows when we need it too

Not sure where exactly you mean? Only things I can think of are the dead bushes there, the wall of that house, and the driveway

And wow, you guys in NY get a whole week off for president's day?!

Yay, Prince George's County got out and that never happens.  The reason the roads look so clear is because they thoroughly salted every street and parking lot, otherwise it would've ended up like my backyard patio currently is, which is iced almost completely over.  I think they did a whole upgrade of this area's anti-winter weather stuff, on the news they ordered as many trucks as they already have so the number of trucks is now double what it was, which is 700.  They also dyed the salt a green color, probably to differentiate between it and the ice, or pebbles.  I didn't think I would see it so soon but the new green salt was all over my school parking lot yesterday when we got let out.

I hate winter in this area. It rarely snows hard enough to close school, so usually you just get slush and ice and horrid temperatures with hurricane-strength winds.

Couple of years ago, there was a big blizzard dahn sarf', and the college didnt close. So we took the day off anyway and slid down hills on skateboards with the trucks removed/bins/car bonnets. Good times.

Fortunately those things usually net us a two-hour delay (well, P.G. County anyway, I don't know which one you're from).

Edit: I just looked at your profile and we have the same first name and we live in the same area, lol.

Hmm, come to think of it, that does look like a slab of ice. Wouldn't totally surprise me... downward slope = water accumulates... add freezing temperatures...

@j56, lol really? Cool I'm in Montgomery County, but right next to the DC border so to speak. I go to school in DC, it's very rare that we get more than a two hour delay unless it's the Blizzard of 96.

Yeah, I notice D.C. gets screwed a lot when it comes to delays/closing/anything abnormal.  Even compared to P.G. County.
