So, my old Freezer 7 Pro has finally given in after over three years of heavy usage and some abuse, and I'm out for a new cooler.

I thought of this, how will it do against my current cooler?

If that's a bad option, could you pick another cooler from the same site, please? Preferrably a similar design, as I don't have all too much space around my CPU cocket. http://multitronic.fi/showcat.php?cat=5 … mp;dir=asc

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme gets about 10*c lower than the Zalman CNP9700 so I'd go with that if you can fit it in your case, motherboard layout isn't really an issue with it as it easilly clears everything, it's just so damn tall it almost touches the side pannel in my 900.

The store doesn't have those... And it's the only store that I can buy from. x.X

Forgot you were in the land of limited shopping, they don't have the Tuniq either, guess you're stuck the the Zalman then lol.

Man that's an expensive store. My 9700 was a lot cheaper than this 9500 which in an older version. I think you made a pretty good pick. 9700 might not fit in your case.

It probably would, may have to mount it blowing upwards though.

Looks fine to me, just crappy perspective, need a top down to be sure, but I know the layout of that mobo, the CPU socket is quite a way back from the rear pannel.

I did some measurements when I wanted to buy DFI blood Iron P35 mobo and when the socket is this close to the back the zalman won't fit easily.

Asus P5B is set about the same as that and it fits fine on those with a bigger fan on the back pannel too.

Freezer can you wait couple days? I currently have a freezer7pro and on Tuesday i get the CNPS9700. I'll make some screenies so you will be able to compare them by their size.

I don't have that mobo but did my best. Case fan might fit but it is pretty close fit

edit: the best way mounting it (blue) is a no no tho. there is the cpu power connector on the way.

Don't change the fan. It's wonderfully quiet and very, very effective. It is loud... At 100%, wich can keep an over 4GHz Prescott at 40C under load, so you won't be running at 100% a lot. And the fan can't be replaced easily, anyhow. It isn't a standard 92mm fan. The bearings have worn down on mine, after three years, and that's the only reason mine is making noise.

And yes, I thought about getting another one, but I'd like a bit of change, for once.

The case fan can be moved to the outside of the chassis, if needed. I'm more worried about the width.

Height shouldn't be a problem, it's about 6-7cm from the top of the current cooler to the side of the chassis.

width shouldn't be a problem. it is about the same as the socket mounting square painted in the mobo

edit: oh wait.... the fan might hit the power connector...

It shouldn't hit the power connector, it's lower than, and further away than the CPU cooler's feet.

What' I'm more concerned about is that the specs tell that it's almost 2dB louder than the 9500...

Which Zalman? 9700 in silent mode (circa 1200rpm) is still very effective and barely audible. Maxed out is pretty loud.
