Yeah that snow missed you guys and dumped on us. We've got about 4-6 inches right now. It's still coming down now, and it began at about 1AM last night. It is supposed to turn to freezing rain soon. It's not much, but it is our first real snow of the season. School's open.
I wouldn't have had school today anyway.
Kneedeep snow and a blizzard school would still be active here.
Wewt 4 NY. In MI i didnt even get a 4 day weekend.avman633 wrote:

Ditto, except for that minor part where it snowed for like two days in total (different days though with large gaps between) but melted in the same days.KILLSWITCH wrote:

N this is England where any snow causes havoc. We we're the only school in the borough not to shut
Not once in my 13 years at school did I get a day off for anything weather related.
Everything from <5ºC to 48ºC (in the shade) and never once was it cancelled.

That was last year, I'm at uni now.M.O.A.B wrote:

Yeah only snow we've had this year was pretty heavy but the floor was too wet for any settling
My school doesn't close even when it's 40 below and a frickin blizzard with 2 feet visibility. They still force you to stand at the bus stop freezing your ass off.
How is it that it snows when I have no school for an entire week anyway?
not that 6 inches of snow would have stopped the New York City Department of Education

I've had all week off.

My parents left for work before I left, and came home after I did. So, I usually called my own snow days. I'd wait for the phone to ring, which was the school leaving a message to fuck me over, and I'd just keep answering so they couldn't leave a message. They gave up after 2 tries, everytime.
But, I barely, i mean BARELY passed high school I did that so much.

We got a couple of inches of snow last night and some freezing rain/sleet this morning. The school system here (Baltimore County) closes down for the smallest amount of snow or ice. It's pretty lame to me.

@GS, I wish I didn't. I don't like the pool and I would've preferred if the money had gone to wiring my house with ethernet

The scools here are closed when it's -27 C outside.
yeh i saw snow once...
Heh, it's not often that someone says they're jealous of P.G. County.HurricaИe wrote:

Yeah, I notice D.C. gets screwed a lot when it comes to delays/closing/anything abnormal. Even compared to P.G. County.HurricaИe wrote:
Hmm, come to think of it, that does look like a slab of ice. Wouldn't totally surprise me... downward slope = water accumulates... add freezing temperatures...
@j56, lol really? Cool I'm in Montgomery County, but right next to the DC border so to speak. I go to school in DC, it's very rare that we get more than a two hour delay unless it's the Blizzard of 96.
my school doesn't know what closing due to snow means.
No, Long Island is in no way any part of NYC. However, Brooklyn and Queens are geographically part of Long Island.HurricaИe wrote:
