Dear fellow BF2 players.  I've created an account just to say a couple of things.  I don't expect everyone to agree with me and thats fine, and I don't mind your opinion at all.  But for the people who have a negative comment for about every post they can find, please do not comment at all.
Okay, I'm sure all of you will agree with me when I say that Battlefield 2 is probably the best realistic, first-person shooter war game ever made.  EA and Dice has done a fine job with it and a real addicting game none of the less.  Recently though many people have complained about some things which include bugs, cheaters, system hardware etc..
What "I" myself disagree with is the fact that people who complain about others who simply take what they have and using it to win the game.  Examples are, bunny hoping and dolphin diving.  These are not illegal unless servers say they do and if they are doing it in servers where it is allowed than they can't possibly be cheating as some players state out.  So EA and Dice shoud've not have had to change these but simply let servers handle it by either banning or allowing these moves.  By changing this to prevent players from using these moves you have made it so when you get up from prone that the players does a stationary run in place before being able to shoot.  I'm not sure if this is just me or a intentional thing done by EA.
Another thing I would like to say is this, EA/Dice, you should just stick with fixing bugs that occur in the game and adding new exciting things, such as new rank,weapons, etc.. which by the way is very cool and has made this game a whole new experience.  What I think you shouldn't do and again this is just my opinion is this, adjusting weapons, whether in accuracy or how powerful it is, and take away things such as bunny hoping to please the few players who have complained about it, is rather stupid.  EA/Dice no disrespect but your gonna start losing alot of business if you continue to let a couple of players walk all over you.  Not all of us wanted these changes.  Now saying that you should continue to patch, fixing bugs like the red/blue tag bug and the spinning tank bug.  Now you may state your comments but don't bother replying rude comments b/c you are simply just wasting your time.  All I want is a reply from fellow players who are mature enough to reply with a simple response either if they agree or don't agree with me.  And if possible a reply from EA/Dice.

Well I just visited EA website and it seems they think the patch "FOR THE MOST PART, HAS BEEN WELL ACCEPTED" don't exactly know where they have been reading. But the bad to good ratio on here is well in favour of the bad.

I don't know why you would complain about weapons adjustments.  Adjustments to weapons for accuracy, damage, ammo capacity, etc., are fairly common.  It's all about some level of balance within the game.  Obviously some weapons are going to better suited for some situations and others (as it should be), but if a weapon is simply too powerful, or too inaccurate, then the balance is off.

I mean, think of it like this.  The game has different classes, and these classes have different capabilities that supply a certain service or function within the game.  If a specific class has a weapon that is capable of dominating everything else, then you'll end up with a game where a large majority will play as this one class in an attempt to survive and gain points.  On the opposite end of the spectrum, if a class has a weapon that is so inept that survival for more than a short period of time is unlikely, players won't use this class, and the services supplied by that class become unavailable.  These detract from the overall game play and what the game was meant to be.

The bunny hoppers and dolphin divers never bothered me, and the ability to jump and shoot or throw items probably could have been addressed better.  I think the original intent was to prevent things like throwing C4 and then detonating it in the air, as well as the bunny hopping, but rather than risk having people get upset and complain that medics and support could still throw medic/ammo packs (even though they aren't weapons) was simply to get rid of the capability all together.

I do think there are more pressing bugs, not exploits, that needed to be addressed.  I don't see the red tag bug all that often, but I have seen it from time to time.  I would like them to work on addressing what classifies as a TK.  Some one running into a friendly tank and having their vehicle blow up should not go down as a TK against the tank driver; you know what I mean and there are far too many instances of similar items that get counted as TK's to list here.

I've not noticed any delays in going prone or standing up from the prone position and being able to fire, so I can't say I've seen any problem here.  Overall I'm happy with the patch, especially the AA capabilities.

I think that EA shouldn't just fix previous patches, because they "fix" old mistakes but there are new pop-ups. When I just got the game (it was 1.03) oh man, that was great. I didnt even know what the bunnyhopping, diving, exploits are. I just enjoyed the game like it was in it's origin. What I suggest is to take just a game (or the first patch) as a base and work it out without rushing. I think it is possiple, especially now, when people have tested alot of changes. Personally, I liked the 1.03 patch, even tho it was buggy enough. Basically EA/Dice can not make everyone happy, because if they make one half happy, others start whining. But how often did you head whines when BF2 just came out? Like you can't build something on the sand, you cant build something good based on "somewhat well maded" patches. I know that every player will wait for something better than he/she has now. Wait and hope. Whining will not help. Each game have passed thru a crisis time. This happens because after some time players start to learn how to exploit. I don't know if this game is realistic (there are no realistic games in the world), but I think that EA could make some kind of official surveys or something, instead of just read the forums, because alot of people come to the forums just to whine about something, so they can take their stress off. And much more importan thing is that EA/Dice should not release any other exp/booster packs befor they will be able to finally fix every aspect of the original Battlefield 2. New add-ons = new bugs. New bugs + old unsolved and game starts to ?flow. I'm sure that EA can make much more money on the addons if we will have the original BF2 perfectly fixed. I have to say something else and unfortunately don't have a time.

All of you who disappointed with a new patch, just wait and hope.

The amount of people that complained about the bunny-hopping, c4 whoring, noobtubing, dolphin diving bunch was by far the majority of the players. It was actually a minority that didn't want to see this changed. Same for the plane raping bunch. Thus, EA didn't get walked over by a few players, rather they agreed with the vast majority about the unbalance in the game. Now that the tables have turned, I doubt they'll go back to the old ways, because really only the minority of players are complaining about the new patch.

As for the bad-good ratio here... it's probably cause the only people that are taking time to talk about the patch are the people are against it. Specifically, all the aircraft pilots and many noobtubing/c4 whores are the ones letting it be known that they don't like what has happened. Everyone else is busy playing in the servers enjoying the break from airplane raping and such. Ask around when you're playing on a server next time, you'll find that out of 32 players, maybe 1-2 don't like the patch, the rest do.

Hello I'm back again.  Well I would just like to thank the ones who replied.  You have opened up my eyes to somethings but for some others I still disagree with.  I'm very glad you responded and hope this topic will continue to have opinions about the progress of EA/Dice and their wonderful game Battlefield 2.

Edit: I didn't mean for it to sound like it but I do not favor the bad I also enjoy this new patch just clarifying a few things that I think should be met.

I was under the impression that EA stated something that bunny hopping was a unintentional move that they did not forsee or something along those lines.  Also, the vast majority of player do not post on any forums.  I would venture to guess that the percentage of players that post vs players that don't would be something like 35% that post and 65% that do not.

I agree that somethings that were changed did not to be but overall the patch has don much to balance the game.

I see alot of people saying that they "n00bified" the game...but, in reality, all they did was change it.  Gave in one area but took away in another. 

For example:

Bunny hopping.  Yes, they made it easier for the person standing to kill the bunny hopper, but, at the same time, they made it harder for the bunny hopper to kill the person standing...they gave in one area, took away in another.

AA.  They made it easier for the AA unit to take out a chopper, but, they also made it harder for the chopper to take out the AA unit.  They gave in one area, took away in another.

So...did they make the game easier...or did they make it harder?

Last night I was playing on the map "Operation Clean Sweep"...and for the life of me, I couldn't destroy a jet that was bombing the non capturable US base...his method was precise and very effective.  You see, he couldn't drop bombs on me, because I could lock onto him and destroy him....however, he did make very effective use of his MG...which has a longer range than my lock on.  I could see him coming, but, even though I was pointed right at him, I could not lock onto him and destroy him until he got within a certain distance, which gave me just enough time to hit him with maybe one missile before he mowed me down with his MG each and every time...and I'm a decent AA user.

On the other hand, I was playing on Kubra Dam and killed chopper after chopper...why?  Was it because my AA unit could reach across the map?  No...they kept going the same exact route, time after time.  Rather than modify their tactics, they kept trying to go through the same hole to get to the cheese...getting caught by the same mousetrap every time.  It wasn't until they sent a tank in to get me that they were able to get through the hole...so, did they make the game easier?  Well...maybe for me, but, it was harder for the chopper pilots...they gave, they took away.

The only thing I wish is that they would have modified some of the maps to compensate for the weaker aircraft, such as on Operation Clean Sweep or Gulf of Oman...since it's much more difficult to reach shore with a decent AA operator and/or vehicle mounted MG it would be nice to have more boats available, or even a carrier based APC.

The 'majority' of people who complain to EA are usually the ones who get killed alot. In this manner, they did walk all over EA. If I was in charge of the patch department (wishful thinking), my priority would be to fix technical issues and force the game to use resources more efficiently. These would be the 1.1's, 1.2's and the 1.3's of the patch world. Adjustments for balance would come in between these patches, and be few and far between. No grand reshuffling of game balance mechanics. A tweak to air vehicles here, a tweak to guns there, and I would be able to follow through with consumer feedback in a more timely fashion. These would be the 1.1x's 1.2x's and the 1.3x's of the patch world.

I wonder if EA at all noticed spinning, 180-degree locking AA missiles or effortless long-range auto-fire assault rifle kills while standing up, or even the lingering ability to dolphin dive (which is pretty much the poster boy of 1.2)? Did they test, or just simulate it all on paper?

And anybody who says aircraft are too hard to kill has never been in a transport. You can take out a chopper with a dune buggy's mounted machine guns in 1.12 in around 10 seconds.

They must have been reading the filefront forums because as soon as I posted anything EA/Dice negative they flamed me beyond belief.  I agree with the original poster.  Some of the ideas presented in BF2 were great ideas, but produced poorly.

I say after this week is up know more complaning because its getting rediculous, if ea or dice actually bother to read anything their CUTOMERS write about their products/patches then they have plenty to read, i feel everyone has stated their point about the pros and cons of the 1.2 patch. I dislike things about it but i can adjust which i have already. the only major changes that need to be fixed in the next patch are the lag issues and red name bug. im sure there more...

and you know what i believe is that before bf came out we were all happy with playing what ever we were playing at the time without to much complaining.
Let’s face it, when doom for example came out or soldier of fortune etc, we all loved the game and played it hard, well i did, i love all the games.

Forums was the demise of fair play in my humble opinion.
Why you ask, well before forums came about we played for the love of the game.
Forums came out and now we spend nearly equal time reading complaints from others about the game we play and actually not playing it, like we were before forums came out.
now forums are a good source of information and help i am not knocking forums, i believe in them, but the text and topics of forums now a days due to games like bf2, and i will say new release online games, are becoming a source of negativity and complaints sections only.
If you are serious about this topic, you must admit to your self that an overwhelming majority of topics and subjects are either negative against either a game or player ?.
Now you same Player ?    well before games like this came out or online games, did anyone of us ever complain or swear or abuse another player ??????  > your answer (no)
I believe everyone has the right to their opinion, but i can only comment on what i see here lately, and that is anyone actually making a comment about nearly anything, has an opinion about anything, basically will find them selves abused verbally by someone.
read the forums, i can’t find one that there are no persons at all taking the crap out of someone with an opinion or swearing at them or calling them everything under the sun.
Surly that’s not what forums are all about ?.
They have become so bad i now have banned my children from reading them as they have become so offensive and rude.
How about we learn to play the games we love and help each other instead of spending quality time shitty on every one with an opinion.

If it weren't for complaints and community support, do you think these guys would bother patching any of their stuff? And yes, I've been on BBS's while I was playing doom, and there were some complaints there too.

LOL. If you go into the EA boards. There are maybe 5 people defending the patch, and everyone flaming it... A lot of people have already quit, to go to new games, and many others will not be buying the new boosters.

Bunnyhopping: Never bothered me, I just put 4 DAO's in their head.
Noobtube: They are always some lame kids

AA: Well airforce is gone... people that can't hit w/ AA. wow. dude it's a missle with aimbot.
Red tag: More common, general consensus.
Glitches: Seems to be a lot more

People likeing the patch. I respect those who actually post something worthwhile, but not noobs that say YOUR SUCH A PLANE WHORE... Without realizing that I (and others) have at least 3X more time on the ground then in the air... Or those who complain about getting base raped and lack of teamwork, and you go online to their stats to see they have less than 3 hours of squad-based. And over 30 of lone wolf... and their favorite kit is support...

As has been said above.. the vast majority of people who play don't go to forums... and the people who liked the patch, for the most part play it, wheras the people who didn't like it go around the net flaming it.

I think the patch is good. It's made the game more like bf1942 / dc, both of which rocked. The thing is, though, if either bf1942 or dc was made using the bf2 engine + bf2 style squads, either of them would be better than bf2. Does anyone else miss artillery that you actually sat in and had a sniper spot you targets for? Does anyone else miss the massive naval battles of Midway? Seriously, even when a noob would crash the carrier into the island, it was still awesome that it was possible to do that.

I think the improvements are good, except the support class seems a bit overpowered now for close and middle range, and i've even been sniped a few times by the pkm. It's also a bit buggy. I've been experiencing a sound issue where I won't hear an enemy weapon firing, I'll just lose health and then die, and I can't find cover because I don't know what direction the gunfire is coming from.

I think DICE are doing the right stuff, and quite frankly if anyone is quitting because the new bf2 isn't their style anymore, I'm not sorry to see them go, and the game will be more fun without that type of play. Surviving and scoring high in a jet is still totally possible, ditto helicopter, it just takes more tactical thought than flying around shooting. The L96A1 and the P90 are both great, the improvements to the sniper kit were good, the L85 is great now. I'm going to game

Neutering the jump functions ruined many aspects of the game beyond bunny hopping.
No c4 throwing, no mine throwing, no medic pack throwing, no nothing.  But hey I can throw a nade further.  But shit, i can no longer throw nades onto roofs to kill snipers...   Oh wait, i can no longer blow up mines and claymores...

Oh wait  I forgot the fact that they changed this game to a long distance proning battle...

Yeah, this patch sucks on so many levels

No they changed the game because the percieved majority of players wanted the changes to be made. The silent majority like the patch.

As for the "noobs" you refer to, mabee you mena that noobs are people who cant kill anyone.

the patch sucks simply because they changed the jumping while shooting thing for me.  i liked to jump and dive to get away from whores in the apcs and tanks.  it worked, it wasnt cheating, it was in the game.  and whoever wants a realistic game, go join the army or marines.  this game is supposed to be fun not so realistic that you cant do certain things like in the real world.  i dont care about the helos or plane changes, i dont even care about the uav.  my concern is while antitank, and hidden behind a wall or whatever cover and a tank or apc is coming at you, why not be able to jump up and shoot over the wall?  and why the hell cant i jump out and suprise a enemy with the shotgun before he even knows what hit him.  this patch is terrible for the simple fact the jumping while shooting is gone.  take away the dolping diving, fine but please reinstate the jumping and shooting.
