Despite Fidel being a dictator who replaced the corrupted Batista, and a man who took away some civil rights and liberties, he achieved good things for Cuba, a highly educated population, a good health system, high life expectancy and all this with a trade embargo from the US. So, I pick Fidel.

I don't know enough about Castro to decide. But based on the longevity of his dictatorial rule, and the obvious hate Cuban-Americans have for him, I'm gonna guess Castro wins the 'dictatorial butthole of the century' award. Of course he didn't needlessly slaughter tens of thousands of innocent people either...

Both are dickfaces but I guess Fidel might have been less of a moron. Plus, he has style! He always wears that hat and he's always smoking a cigar, Bush just has a dumb look on his face.
Generally Bush blows.
Generally Bush blows.
GWB took a great nation and despite all the odds, made it probably the most hated country in the world.
Fidel took a poor, highly corrupt, violent, repressive country and worked miracles in the health service and steered the country away from the horrors experienced by the rest of the surrounding region.
I'll go with Castro. Although the results were ultimately worse (the USA is absolutly miles better than Cuba) Fidel started with little and moved the country upwards, GWB started with everything you could possibly want in a country and moved it downwards.

Ludicrous
Perhaps you Fidel fans should move to Cuba, yes?
Picking Fidel and not GWB doesn't make you a Fidel fan.Stingray24 wrote:

I don't understand the point of the poll then ...
He's bored and wants to further entrench the DST flame-camps is all.Stingray24 wrote:

Quite simple, knowing which one of those two guys will leave a better legacy for his country.Stingray24 wrote:

It's just a poll. Freedom of speech ftw. If you read the OP I don't even mention anything good or bad about GWB.DoctaStrangelove wrote:

Both options lack historical context.

Shouldn't the question be: Who leaves a WORSE legacy?
Castro is worse overall, but Bush has done a lot of damage in less than 8 years (as compared to Castro's 50).

They were mostly gangsters and fascists so I wouldn't worry about their opinionthe obvious hate Cuban-Americans have for him
