edit: The "best" real life pistol is a better debate. .357 revolver? .44 or .45? A 9mm? A .600 round is, well, god damn powerful but it isn't worth anything if you aim the bullet at an Easter Island statue and end up hitting one of the faces on Mount Rushmore.

I choose the 1911 because the Desert Eagle is >>NOT<< reliable....

My friend has a .44 Desert Eagle...piece of crap.  Fails to chamber rounds all the time, limp wristed or not.

Then there's something wrong with it or the ammo. They are gas-operated so limp-wristing shouldn't be an issue.

I'm not sure what the point of a pistol is bigger than 0.357mag or 0.45ACP.
Either will complete most tasks effectively, if you need something bigger you're better off with a rifle.

Okay, is there any serious reason behind have "the most powerful handgun in the world" which can break your hand clean off?

The only reason I can think of to have anything more powerful than a .45ACP would be for handgun hunting.  But even then, there are limits.  I do not EVER want to shoot a .50BMG pistol.  I never want to put a .50BMG through any firearm weighing less than 20 pounds.  I like my body parts intact. 

Oh, the most powerful pistol I ever shot?  .50AE, .454 Casul, .45-70 (Thompson Center single shot).  None of those were very pleasant experiences. 

I am very happy with .357 Mag, .45ACP  and .40S&W.

actually the desert eagle failed military testing and is well known for misfeeds, and jamming.
