I run BF2 on  8600GT, 6000+ Dual core, 4 gigs of ram computer. When I play BF2 I usually hit 70-80 FPS. But when I start to record with fraps that lowers down to 30-40 FPS. What's the best way to increase my fraps performance? When I start fraps it actually only uses CPU 1, and not CPU 0, whereas everything else is on both, so naturally I put it on both.

Would it be wise to put the speed to "real time" or would it be better to set BF2 as real time?

Currently Defraging to see if that changes anything, also I've set fraps at 70 FPS, fullscreen. It's a registered version.

Well, get the latest version of Fraps if you don't have it. It supports multicores. Also set Fraps to record at 40-50FPS, so it won't limit to 30 (which is default), and also get an extra (internal) hard drive for Fraps to record to.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Why do people use FRAPs? It doesn't give very accurate FPS. Just use in game commands to display the FPS to see it more accurately.

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Record at higher FPS, if you record at 30FPS your frame rate drops to 30.

I think you may be confusing FPS with refresh rate.

Native was the wrong word to use ... normal FPS

I set to record at 70 FPS. I might get a new HDD just for fraps recordings, would that work?

Keep in mind though, when you record fraps at higher resoultions and higher framerates, it writes a LOT more data to the hdd, which can slow your computer down.

I'd recommend recording in 40-50FPS in medium size.

I asked Safr, and he suggested recording in full size for the quality, and I can't agree more .

I'll try lowering the record rate to 40-50 FPS, I'll see how it goes.
