Wireless doesn't affect gaming / Internet connection really. You may lose about one packet to the background noise in every 100,000 or something- and even then your connection can 'fill in' the gaps and just recover from it seamlessly. Well KP, if your dongle is gd, it shoud run fine. USB connections have speeds of up to 400ishMB/s. So dongles can be gd, if you get the right one.
I think you should save some money and replace your router and dongle, preferably switch your dongle for a PCI card.
