Is this worth getting? I have the newer 360 with the HDMI output, but the actual HD-DVD part connects to the 360 via USB 2.0 i think. So does this mean anything? Does it mean it would be lesser quality then a stand alone HD-DVD player?

Has anyone used or seen one yet?

It should be the same, if you are planning on watching HD-DVDs and you have HDTV, then I don't see why you shouldn't buy it.

If you get it and wish to watch HD movies in HD then you have to connect your 360 to a HD-capable TV through the HDMI output. Otherwise, it'll go through your current cable and really won't show the quality (but will show an expensive waste of time). You can pick up a stand-alone player quite cheaply now, though, such as a Toshiba A2 for about $200 and the fantastic A3 for $300.

EDIT: But you're in Australia, so the going rate will probably be colossal for them. Not a clue what you should do - I'd wait.

Hmmm... wondering why.... oh yeah. HD-DVD is dead. Long live Blu-ray!

That is true, Blu-ray has won the format war and HD-DVD is ending. That is why it is so cheap.

The only way I'll end up with an HD-DVD player is if MS sends me for free and they pay for the shipping.
