Hahaha. It is about time someone shows nvidia who is the big boss here. I personally would love to see SLi support for Intel chipsets since I'm sick of the nforce problems...
Time to pwn Intel...

I've never had any real problems with nForce.

Drivers potentially always have problems, as new tech requires new drivers. Assuming you're not having problems with drivers(?), what hardware problems have you experienced with the nForce SLI chipsets? Just curious.

ram compatibility problems with nvidia qualified sticks. (resulting in random BSODs). Bootup and stability problems with 4 sticks of ram. (got 10 BSODs the first time I tried going to windows after install. got 5 BSODs during the install too). FSB holes in BIOS. (board refuse to boot or go in BIOS after 416FSB.) making overclocking pretty much impossible. and some HDD stuff too but that wasn't so serious.

EDIT: And what I have read and heard I'm not the only one experiencing that kind of problems. It seems to be completely random to have problems or have a great board. It just isn't great to have many bad ones in row.

Hmm, people get similar errors (BSODs) and problems with Intel chipsets to. People who own Intel chipset mobos are not BSOD-free, memory compatibility issue free... error free simply because they have an Intel chipset.

Anyways, I've read the article in different way. I am thinking Intel does not like Nvidia's success and are trying to prevent the SLI chipset from getting more market share. This is simply about money/market share (IMO), and not really about improving technology or better technology.

ye. Can happen to Intel chipset users too with not well known ram manufacturers. The stability of x38 however speaks for itself since I haven't had a single BSOD or OC problem with it. And I used to crash few times a day!

edit: only reason for nvidia chipsets to exist atm is SLi support. if Intel got it, nforces would be doomed. 780i was quite big dissappoint to me being only old chipset + bridge chip + new name + new price.

Panzer you also have Asus P5E. Will you give me some advices how to OC my processor?

I use to have my new nForce 780i chipset (EVGA mobo) crash 2 or 3 times a day (only with games), until I upgraded the memory. Then it was only now and then (once a day or less). Then I installed new Realtek HD audio drivers - now it's basically near-never.

Since I can afford it 3 video cards in SLI - the nForce chipset is a must have for me.
SLI + low quality ram (or certain manufactures ram) + bad audio drivers = many nForce problems.
SLI + high quality ram (or manufacturer recommended ram) + compatible audio drivers = no nForce problems.

PS: I still think the issue is about Nvidia's market share success, and Intel simply doesn't like it.

sure. I'm happy to help you. I have a quick WC3 game and after that I'm all yours. It helps since I can look for every setting for you which wouldn't be possible if I didn't have this mobo.

Thanks man. I get my mobo tomorrow so no hurry. I have an E8400.
