Oh, and Kmal? That study that you sourced? Two problems with it. First, it was designed to highlight the dangers of smoking nicotine. Also, the grading methods used were.... not as scientific as they could have been. I am not going to claim it is junk science (quite), but it is suspect.
That beign said, I will grant that marijuana is less dangerous in many ways than nicotine and caffine, let alone alcohol. Marijuana does cause significant lung damage, due to the fact that users tend to hold the smoke in longer than a tobacco cigarette. Less carcinogens, true; but there is still damage. The second thing is not chemical dependance, but behavioal dependance. People coming home and "needing" a hit to relax.
I do not think that it is safe to drive 'high.' Granted, I have no doubt that you honestly believe you drive better high than sober; but most people who drive drunk think they drive just fine as well. If you are only using your personal experience, then it is a flawed argument. Not calling it or you wrong, just pointing out problems in your arguments. I do not care what you do in your own home; take heroin or drain cleaner for all I care. The issue comes when you leave your home and possibly interact with me. Then being high is a problem. So does being drunk on alcohol. Anything that alters your judgement or the way you think is an issue for me when you are in public. Tobacco gets a pass here.
Last thing. Alcohol and tobacco are legal ONLY because they have been a part of our society for so long. If they were discovered or newly produced today, they would be banned so fast your head would spin.
***EDIT: Oh, and so people don't call me anything moronic or say I don't understand. I quit smoking tobacco 3 years ago after smoking 1 1/2 packs a day for 10 years. I drink about a single beer every other week or so, but I had my party years a while back. I smoked marajuanna- once. I am violently allergic to it, and will not be doing that again. I have no desire to try anything 'harder' than that.
