Its not my problem.
After WWI Russia lost a majority of easter Europe that it held. Your country and a large chunk of eastern Europe was part of Russia until then. I dont blame them for wanting their land back. Plus during 1943-1944, Before the Yalta Conference, the Russians advanced all the way to the outside of Berlin. So unless you wanted a 5 year Word War to turn into an easy 10 and mostly likely longer war, then Russia could say "Im staying right here what are ya gonna do about it." No one wanted to fight so it was left alone.

Long story short:

You say that the Baltic states were Russia's land? No way! Our tribes settled here long before Christ. Firstly in 13th century came German crusaders and fought with us, Lithuanians and Estonians for about a century until they established a Livonia state. Our lands were zone of interest for lot of countries. We have had Swedes here, Poles, Russians and of course Germans as they remained here for 700 years. During WWI Latvians saw an opportunity to have independence after Latvian brigades and battalions were recruited in 1915/1916. We fought Germans on Russian side, then we fought Bolsheviks with help of Brits and France. The battles were over at 1919, that's one year after WWI when we finally gained back our historical territories. For 20 years we were independent state, we started with nothing as everything was evacuated to Russia but we did pretty well.

Before WWII we were occupied in 1940 by Soviets as a result of Molotov-Ribbentrop pact between Soviets and Nazis signed in 1939. No wonder that first German troops marching into Baltic states were taken as liberators. Latvian legion was formed in 1943 which was part of Waffen-SS but that just because it couldn't be in a Wehrmacht by law. Although mobilization was illegal. These 2 divisions fought on Eastern front and never ever were used for shooting Jews or something. As Soviets were pushing Germans back, there was clear that terror will return. Nevertheless our troops fought and died with a thought that they are fighting for Latvia.

After Germany signed capitulation, our men went to forests in a hope that Allies would come and help them. (yea, they didn't know that everything already was solved in Yalta). Partisan movement existed till 1955!!!! That is ten years after the end of WWII!

We have our state because its historically our territory and we earned it with blood, Russians has no right for it.

Now go back to school and try to listen to teacher sometimes more carefully though I doubt that you even know that there is some other world outside US borders.
