For no apparent reason, WinAmp has stopped working on my gaming computer. When I started it, it locked everything up - mouse pointer stuck, copmpletely frozen, only exit being the reset button. I reinstalled WinAmp, and now it just gives me the old "WinAmp has committed an illegal operation and needs to be terminated". I've reinstalled many times with no success. Halp?
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I have had that on my fathers PC. I went to this site and there was a fix for that issue called 'Winamp' over there.

iTunes is so much shit for the stuff that I use WinAmp for. WinAmp is light and has got a decent equalizer. I hate apple products for Windows. Uses way more resources that WinAmp.

remove any uneeded plugins you might have.
It uses DirectX for output by default, run the directx diagnotstic (dxdiag).

If you can't fix your problem, I recommend foobar2000 as your new player. It uses less resources as winamp and the equalizer is grat. The only downside is that it's not the easiest to apply the settings you want to it.

Winamp is really good for this. You can set keys for pretty much anything.
I've got next/previous track, play/pause and shuffle toggle mapped to my numpad. Works great

As long as it takes you to drag and drop your music folder into the winamp play list.
