So right, I got a dlink wireless router at home and whenever I connect via my laptop, it works for like 10 minutes, then just loses the connection.

It can't be an issue with the router, because we got two other computers on wifi and they stay connected fine. This laptop must be shit is the only conclusion I can draw

If you need certain specs to help me figure this out I'll post them.

Yep, was just gonna suggest that.  I work for my ISP, Time Warner so i know a little bit about this.  We already know that theres no reason for why the wifi wont work, its working on the other pc's, theres something to this problem pc thats causing the problem.  With your connection dropping out every 10 minutes, its gotta be a wireless adapter issue.  Go on the manufacturers website and look for new drivers, you could also uninstall and reinstall the card if needed, or perhaps if your laptop is getting up there in age, the card might just be goin.  Good luck mate!

Ok. I got a 802.11g MiniPCI Wireless Network Adapter by Ralink Technology Inc. I'll try and update driver...

There are some settings I can change for it though...There is a 'CAM when AC Power' property that is set to Disable...

Ya the driver date is 9/7/2005. The wizard just got done and it said it installed a new driver. I'm gonna reboot and see what happens.

sweet bro, hopefully it does the trick, nothing more frustrating then a connection droppin in and out.   Hey by the way is your network secured?  Because if you just uninstalled your wifi card you prolly wiped out your wep key or pass phrase, so now when you try to login it could prompt you for a password, hopefully you ght it handy otherwise now you might be locked out of your own network, lol, its always somethin

Actually no, wait. It didn't work. When I booted up I had wifi instantly and so I just assumed. BUT it's doing it again. Drops, trys to connect, connects, then after a short while, it drops out again.

AND the weird part is, on my wireless connections window, it shows my network and when I'm connected and can browse the net, it tells me its 'Not Connected' ...And the button to connect/disconnect is 'Disconnect' So, wtf!

yeah thats weird, you know i wonder if maybe your wireless connection is being intterferred by someone next door.  Do you ever detect any other networks that are available besides from your own?

other then that i was just thinkin that you could also take a wifi card out of one of the other pc's thats working, and put it in this one to see how it works in your laptop.  If your connection improves then you know that the original laptop wifi card is toast and you gotta get a new one, but if your connection keeps droppin out even with the wifi card that we know works, well maybe we can narrow it down to somethin else.

is this an internal or external card?

oh i dont even know man, i didnt look it up at all.   Though chances are if youre asking then its an internal card since you would prolly see one stickin out on the side or connected with a usb adapter.   I'll look it up right now.  If you were gonna another wifi card hopefully your other pc's will be of the usb variety just so that its easy to do.  Otherwise if you dont know what youre doin you prolly dont want to open up your laptop at all, but you could connect another wifi card to it via usb.
I suppose you also could connect this laptop up to your router with an ethernet cord to see how the connect works that way, just to see if its anything computer related thats causing it to drop
