For that money a home built would blow it away. If you are into that sort of thing. The 3 gig and the week GPU are the biggest stand-outs. It would be nice to know if the 3 gig is dual channel (ie. 2 x 1 gig and 2 x 512mb).

Better off custom building, if you buy from a company like HP you're going to get ripped.

-8500GT = Terrible GPU, only nVidea i've ever owned, I threw it out after 6 months
-I wouldnt go vista, unless i saved enough money to go for a DX10 GPU, so it looks as good as it can.

Building your own rig not only is more enjoyable, but it allows you to hand pick superior components.

That said, I was just looking at a PC review on tomshardware.com, and it looks to be a good deal if you're against building your own.

Unfortunately, I have no clue how to build my own so I'm forced to buy one already made. I know that the M9150F model link I posted has Direct X10 which some newer games are using. I do alot of online gaming. Likewise, I do a buttload of Photoshop work & video editing & making. I need a pc that can handle the workload I do.

Dude, I built my first computer at 15. It's not that hard.

Just get a book to help you and you're set. We'll be glad to help you as well.

That HP is not horrible... but the 8500gt is pretty weak though...
You will be very suprised how easy it is to build a comp yourself...and it's fun...
With all the people on here to help you put together you will be fine... You could get the 6600Quad/8800gts/4gb ram/etc... for around 1200-1300... (I am about to build one myself for about 1300...similar specs for PShop/3dmax/After Effects... etc)
The HP probably doesn't have a very big power supply... so if you upgrade the graphics... you might need to upgrade the power supply also... And Vista is ok... I still use XP until Vista becomes more stable...

I'd probably have to have someone right next to me if I were to attempt to build one. I'm great at taking things apart, but not good when it comes to putting things together.

THe nice thing about that site is you can pretty much pick and choose the components yourself. You can have them install Windows Vista (DX10) or Windows XP (DX9) But, the more I look at it, your getting about the same deal, because that price that they show isn't including the OS cost (Operating System) Which is an added +100 or so, and when I chose for you a 750 gig HD, it's up to $1000 anyway.

But AT LEAST that cyperpowerpc site gives you a lot more options for motherboard type, hard drive type, and it shows you the RPM speed of each drive and what brand. That HP you got picked out on the other hand...Who knows what kind of hard drive they'll install for you?

I just wanna share my PM with the general public, because I do not claim to be an expert when it comes to computer components, and I appreciate any feedback.

That said, I think its the general opinion of all of us, you should get a custom PC either built for you, with all the components you want picked out, or buy the components yourself and build it

It's all outdated stuff, but it really helps you. Honestly man, it may seem hard, but it's really, really not. If you can follow instructions and be careful with static electricity, you can build a PC.

The dell is your best bet.
I have a dell (laptop). They make good shit. People just don't like them because they're retail... but they really do quite a good job.
I'm gonna build my next computer myself, but I'm a student/musician and I needed the mobility. It's not too late to learn how to build a computer. Even if you buy this one, find a friend who knows about computers, and get him to show you some stuff on your old computer... disassemble it then reassemble it. That's how I learned. It's kinda fun too, once you get into it. And it will save you buttloads of money in the future.

(dell lets you add stuff on to your order I think? so this would be easy)

IMO choose parts off net... (we can help u with that if u would like) and if ur not confident to build it urself just go to ur local computer store (a good one, not a crappy chain electronics store) and pay the $50 or so for them to build it for u. if they make a mistake they have to replace it for u... better than stuffing it up urslef lol

Look for a computer store that will put your components together for a reasonable price.
This way you get exactly what you want and don't have to build it your self.

ya building your own isn't really that tough but if you do want a prebuilt machine check out cypowerpc.com. They have good builds and you can customize a lot of it. My dad went that route and so did my uncle and they got pretty good machines.

I agree with most people, that computer is severely overpriced for what it is.

And make sure you take note the 8500GT is not a gaming card. Gaming cards start at 600. The numbers after the series mean something.
