Even on Windows XP Pro, I sometimes hit limitations while gaming with 2GB, but 4GB would not be seen entirely. When I finally put together my Vista system, I will be running software that will bump into a 2GB ceiling, so it's 4GB for me, until something massive requires 8GB.

It's usually a better idea to get 2x1GB or 2x2GB (4x memory tends to add a bit of overhead heat with some modules) than it is to mix and match memory sizes.
