At my uni, they essentially block all UDP packets, which means that I cannot play any online games. A friend of mine tells me that by adding the aforementioned protocol, I can play them, which is what he does. I wanted to know what everyone knows about this? I have no idea what it does. It is MS so I'm assuming it's reasonably legit, but it doesn't come by default with Windows, so I'm wondering if there is a reason for this, like it's buggy or insecure or something like that. I really know nothing about it, so if anyone can help me out that would be sweet.
Well I know nothing about it except what I just read on Wikipedia. But it looks like it will be of no use to you unless the server you want to play on is a windows server that happens to be running that particular software.

Yeah I read the Wiki article too, just wanted to know if anyone knew any more about it than that. I think I'll just give it a shot and see what happens.
i can't see it making much difference but it's harmless so you may as well give it a try, if by some freak of nature something does go wrong a simple uninstall or wost case scenario a system restore should sort it.
If it does work let us know, I have a friend at Uni in the same position, he has to use secure tunnel to get games to work which isn't free and it's a pain in the ass with games that use a lot of ports.

I haven't used the software myself, but LLTD is supposedly just a graphical network mapper. Short of applying unblocked generic layer 3 encapsulation to your PDUs, I don't see how you'd get around network filtering. Haven't found anything in the specifications yet to suggest that it'd be possible.
