There's more proof for them than against them. Sure there's the poorly put together documentaries, but there's also some nicely arranged ones that have some pretty compelling elements in them.

Also, what do you consider proof of their existence, one you can walk on, carbon date, do metalurgical studies on? Because the obvious sightings of them over generations and millenia have happened regardless of if someone has proven to you they exist.

So yes, there are probably experts.
