Seriously white people. You guys thought you'd have it easy forever? Cmon, the other races are kicking your ass and now ya'lls is crying about inequality. Looks like you just need to pick up your boot straps and work harder for what was traditionally handed to you.
I was actually thinking about this topic the other day and almost posted something similar. First, I am in no way, shape or form a racist. In fact I am married to an Asian woman and have a mixed race child. What I have noticed is that there ARE more and more of these types of things happening. Even locally, there is a softball league that is called "The Hispanic Softball League" and yes you HAVE to be Hispanic to play in it. I wondered to myself what would happen if there was a White softball league and only whites could play in it. I do think there would be a protest and the news would be all over it, there would be an outcry and outrage over anything remotely like that.
Look, like some others said here, to keep naming things to "honor" your race only divides things even more. In my opinion it just isn't conducive to moving things forward. Yes, we have made progress in race relations and our presidential elections are an example but why take a step backwards and label things like softball leagues, awards shows, TV channels...etc, etc, etc. No matter how you look or read it, it will and can offend someone, even if that person happens to be white. Our history of slavery was ugly but this type of name labeling and division can also get ugly and divisive. Just my opinion.

They started a Black Student Union in my school this week. I'm tempted to start a White Student Coalition.
That's not exactly the point. If we try to do anything in the name of our people, well:rawls2 wrote:

i think the problem here is that these things are leading to "sorry you can't do this because you're not the right colour" anyone who supports anything of that sort is simply pathetic.rawls2 wrote:

One of these comments is supposed to be racist and one is not........Any guesses on which is deemed racist?
I do not care about BHM, or any other racially specific channel, magazine, fund raiding organization etc.......my only concern is the double standard that specifically white people have to endure. If ONE group is allowed their racially specific recognition, then so should ALL groups. As it is, white people are not allowed pride or fund raisers, or channels or magazines, because we are deemed racist as a result. Surely you all can see this.
Well generally we do have days celebrating White People, like Presidents day.. But BHM is a step backwards in the advancement of human people. My feelings on this matter, is that "color and geographic location" should be made into a thing of the past. We need to advance as a human race in order to truely end racism.
Celebrate the man not the color is what I say.. Do you think majority of black people even care about black history month? It's a spawn of the great white guilt. Something done so the rich white people can say "I'm not raciest I contributed to black history month, I do love them coloreds".

Presidents Day is is hardly the celebration of white people. Unless you intend to rename it WHITE Presidents Day. Also what becomes of your argument if/when Obama becomes president?cpt.fass1 wrote:

The constant distinguishing of black history this and black magazine that, is what continues to keep a rift between races. Oh, and Jesse and Al
Hmmm honestly I want Obama to win but I don't think he will. Then I'll edit and make it white people day till 2009...
Yeah I'd much rather see alot of there whinning brought forth as a Class thing instead of a race thing.. My sister was a teacher in Baltimore for a while and she said the kids made it horrible. Was it horrible cause they where black or was it horrible cause they where poor and ignorant?
IMO it was horrible cause they where poor and ignorant, it has nothing to do with race at all.

I understand what you are trying to say and I agree, but being poor has nothing to with ignorance. Just like being rich has nothing to do with how smart you are.cpt.fass1 wrote:

Being poor is never an excuse for remaining poor. In fact, in America, there is NO excuse for being poor, only reasons for it, and every one of those reasons are self induced, if your are healthy, mentally and physically.

In general I think the problems of this world boil down to money and class. If everyone were rich and comfortable I reckon there would be a lot less racial tension and tension in other areas of society. Religion accounts for most of the other problemscpt.fass1 wrote:

That's why I said Poor AND ignorant.. Well America does have one of the hardest social ladders to climb..lowing wrote:

My opinion? Until people stop getting offended at words they deem racist, nothing more is gonna change. For example, me and my friends(some white, some black) call each other "nigga" all the time, we, have no problem with it. On the other hand, some black people HATE when white people use the word, that only they should be able to use it. Excuse me, but fuck you. I am gonna say what ever I god damned want and thats YOUR problem how YOU take it.
Not really...I'd say places like India where there are active caste systems have the hardest social ladders to climb. The US socio-economic ladder is actually fairly easy to climb if you apply yourself and actually take advantage of the many opportunities available.cpt.fass1 wrote:

I think it's a matter of common sense. Irish people will refer to each other jokingly as 'Paddies' quite frequently but God help an Englishman if he casually uses the term when talking to an Irish person ...many will take offense. If said English person is friends with the Irish person and can comfortably use use the term in a light hearted manner then no problem. The same goes for a white person using the word 'nigger' or 'nigga' in the company of black people; I wouldn't go calling a black stranger a 'nigga'.Commie Killer wrote:

Thats my point. There is no reason to get offended at it. Call me a cracker, see how much I care....Braddock wrote:

If some random person referred to you as 'dipshit' or 'fuckwad' for absolutely no reason, wouldn't you get a little offended? Or understand why someone would get offended?Commie Killer wrote:

You have to be very friendly with someone before being able to use such terms without causing offense, even more so with racial terms.SenorToenails wrote:

Black history month? That's just about the stupidest thing I've ever heard. That name alone implies segregation.
