HOBOKEN, N.J. —  Disciplinary charges have been issued against an unspecified number of police officers associated with Hoboken's now-disbanded SWAT unit, the city's public safety director announced Thursday.

to disband the entire team is going a little to far, yes I do think having the waitresses holding there weapons is a big NO-NO but they should have gone after the unit commander but keep the team intact

I think the pics are also going to far bc they have to uphold sense of authority and respect, and that was tossed out the window

I work part time with both city and sheriffs and SRT, and occasionally we go to Hooters but we maintain our composure

Ahhh Hoboken a town that is one square mile and has trouble catching criminals.. Disbanding them really isn't a big lose, there really is no reason to have a SWAT team in a town that's biggest revenue generator is parking tickets. I think it's 2 million a month in tickets there. I live two blocks from hoboken by the way.

looks like they were out having some fun... cmon, its a stressful job, they should be able to enjoy a little r&r.  (but letting em mess with the weapons is a bit too far.)  maybe a suspension, but disbanding the unit is kind of overkill no?

It got disbanded before this, the LT was having Hispanic cops work on his house when the were supposed to be on duty. Oh and toss in that he is a racist. The Hooters was located in Alabama, not in NJ.

LOL, totally agree... what a total over reaction.

Human beings acting like human beings make a small mistake in discretion by letting themselves be photographed and then the photos leak out. Oops someone had some fun one time. Guys behaving like guys and enjoying some female eye candy. WOW never heard of such a thing in existence (/end-sarcasm).

Disbanding the unit is kicking the arse out of it l think. So what if the Hooters lasses are holding fire arms. There not loaded! I would thnik differently if they were loaded and one of the Hooters lasses ND'd with a weapon, but there not! I see nothing wrong with this at all.
What a waste of money, all that training and experience down the pan! Not to mention the fact thats a unit of the streets. Personaly l think the bloke that sacked them should be dry raped by a Bear!

Police are allowed to shoot people but not hang out with waitresses? They should get a tongue lashing from the publicity guys, at most. How much is it going to cost taxpayers to put together a replacement unit? Those rifles looked unloaded anyway.

Blah.

There is strict STRICT policy that the guns not be mishandled.  Even more so by civilians.  If someone fucked up, and let the girl hold a loaded gun by mistake, and she shot a coworker or civilian.  Then that team and it's department would be in a complete fuckton of trouble.

It's about the potential of shooting someone, the fact that police firepower is already a constant issue, and that the police were being potentially, dangerously, negligent and irresponsible.

A team of people, intentionally armed with lethal force should never bend these rules, and the fact that they are treating guns like toys, doesn't send a gooed message.

THAT's where this is a big deal.   Disbanding the team is a bit much i'd say, but considering who they are, what they do, this is hardly acceptable.
