Is there any way to change the speed at which firefox downloads files from the internet? With smaller files it does ok, but with larger files, right now it always seems to be WAAAAAY slow. It might just be the site I'm downloading from (garrysmod.org, i'm downloading a 90mb file, but it shouldn't take that long, I can download the 500mb bf2 patch from a different site faster) but I'm not too sure. Right now I'm downloading at 7.8 KB/sec, estimated time: 2 hours.
Use Flash get plugin for firefox? it also modifies Internet connections.

Downthemall should speed it up a bit. Never really done any side by side comparisons, but it's definitely faster.
It's dependent on your internet connection, and in this case, the site (and their server) you're downloading from's upload connection, and everything in between.

Garrysmod.org isnt a fair comparsion as that site has slowed to a crawl, me and my buddies have been waiting nearly 20 minutes for a 7meg file. Not sure whats going on, its slow as hell though.

I use Download Accelerator Plus, and its' excellent.

I get max downloads on almost all files, so long as I'm downloading from the EU area.

None of those make a difference, it's just about where you download from, and the time of the day depending on how busy shit is.

Well none of that has ever worked for me. If I get 600KB/s from a good website and then try it with some Download thing, it's usually the same. Except it takes longer to start up.
I get a quicker download. without, just using firefox, say the file takes 3 hours to download. with DAP, it takes an hour or less. if you already get a fast download speed, it won't help much, but if you don't have the fastest connection money can buy, it helps a lot.
