Is it worth buying one...or maybe 2...

Or would this be better value for money?

or should i just wait a bit?

I have the first one. And its awsome. Better value than the GTX. However, I am not too sure, if its worth upgrading from GTS. I mean, you could wait maybe for 9800 or w/e the hell it is called. If you can't afford it, then go with the GT.

Going on just the cards themselves: The GT is a faster card, so you'll get some benefit in all games, and it has more RAM, which will help with high-end games.

The GTX is nearly twice the price of the GT, but, on paper at least doesn't have twice the performance.

What are the specs of the rest of your system? You may be more wise to spend money there rather than on the GPU.

Intel core 2 Quad Q6600
4GB PC6400 ram
8800GTS 320MB
MSI Platinum 650i mobo
500GB

From that the gfx card looks the weakest and is definately holding me back.

If you do decide to go with one of your choices go with ebuyer
found approx match to your GTX there for £2 less - I know doesn't sound like much but with Ebuyer you get free postage that equates to another £8 off for standard delivery going up to £21 for top option.

*edit lol just compared the other prices and it looks like OcUK are raising their game when it come to prices

Personally I would wait another month or two and see what happens to prices with the 9000 series coming out at the moment and then take it from there

Only the 9600 is available at the moment and, from what I've seen, is out performed by 8800's. You could be waiting some time before 9800's are available and by then their 10 series will be 'just around the corner'.

Not that I'm saying you should wait for the 10 series - quite the opposite in fact - with PC hardware we will always be in the position of the next-best-thing being 'just around the corner' - and one could spend the rest of one's life playing the waiting game.

Personally, if I were in the OP's position, and I had the money, I'd go for the upgrade now - 9800's are gonna be twice, three or even four times that price when they come out, but, almost certainly, won't provide that degree of increase in performance over a top-end 8800.
