Hey guys,

Today I finally said to myself I need a new mouse as my G5 constantly dies, which is annoying during gameplay. I picked up a Razer Deathadder and when I plug it in, it works fine. I installed the drivers to program the buttons and get adjustable sensitivity going, but when I boot up the driver it tells me it doesn't detect the mouse (despite the fact that I am actually using it). I gives me the option of scanning the USB ports, but when I do so it just closes the box and leaves me with the driver window.

Is there any way to get the driver to recognize the mouse?

Thanks in advance.

Hmm,,, alot of people are having mouse problems lately

I blame microsoft, they must have screwed up in some update somewhere...

My MX518 keeps getting tossed off by windows and then picked up again when i use USB

Try plugging it into a different USB port so it has to re-recognize the hardware. Normally, you want to always install the software before plugging in any type of hardware, whether it be a printer, video card, whatever... sometimes just moving the cable works...

Yeah, normally I would've done drivers first but the instructions (I cant believe I read them ) told me otherwise.

I played around with different ports before and no dice. I'll restart the computer later and see. Thanks for the help, stay tuned

nothing works and i've just formatted and error is still there, hence it is most likely a microsoft compability problem!

Try installing the drivers again. I've had a similar problem when I've changed the usb port the mouse is plugged in, the drivers stopped recognizing it. Reinstalling the drivers fixed it.

I had major problems with my Lachesis when I got it (now don't bother using drivers as native sensitivity control on it is OK for the moment). Windows wouldn't recognise it when I first powered up the system unless I disconnected it then plugged back in.This went on until I checked for updates and found there was a specific patch for it in windows update, so it might be worth checking to see if there's one for your model too. Hope that helps

I'll reinstall the drivers.

If not, return. My windows vista cannot update, and thats a problem for another day. Im running on the patch from last may.

I know what the problem is. Do you have an old system (mobo)? Some older mobos have an issue with razer mices when you restart or power up your system it doesn't recognize it anymore. Then you need to unplug it an plug it back in.
What you need to do is download the newest firmware and update it. Its very risky so follow the instructions carefully.

I'm a little confused here...its a Dell laptop (worst decision of my life) thats less than a year old, all the stuff is fairly new (Vista, 2gb Ram DDR2 Ram, dual core, etc), although theres of course much better stuff out. I'm assuming that youre refering to the motherboard firmware, but I believe mine is one of those integrated POS.

I'm about to reinstall the drivers and if it doesn't work, I'm just gonna return the mouse. I'm not gonna pay $60 for something thats gonna give me more shit than my G5.

Thanks for all the help though +1

Went to Best Buy today. Nicest bunch of guys I've met in a store in a while. The guy that helped me has a Deathadder, but uses Mac. We talked about it and he showed me the DiamnondBack for $10 less that doesn't need drivers for Sensitivity adjustment. I got it and took my $10 back.

Just set it up and the drivers work for it. Weird shit, but it has 7 buttons instead of 5, neon on the side, and $10 less. I'm about to go play BF2. The one thing I don't get so far is I've set the on the fly button, but clicking it doesn't do anything with sensitivity and theres no where to set the on the fly. We'll see how it goes, but so far I'm very happy with it.

The two buttons on the left of the mouse are for "back/forward" in internet browsers and such, the ones on the right are the sensitivity settings, nearest one to cors for higher dpi other for lower dpi etc.

The one nearest to you makes the DPI lower, the opposite for the one away from you

Actually, its a little different. You click and hold the button while scrolling the scroll wheel. Scrolling it forwards ups the sensitivity and scrolling it backwards lowers it with settings up to 10 in .5 increments. Its a fantastic mouse, and the drivers work so I changed which button controls sensitivity so its more comfortable for me. I love this mouse.

Its simply superior to the G5 also.

I'm confused as to why the programmable buttons work in Opera, but not in BF2?
