BF2S Forums problems starting up

i been playin bf2 for awhile but had to stop after some new mobo and cpu installations, played fine still afterwards but then i did a format and reinstalled xp sp2 and all that.  just installed bf2 today and when i load it up it doesn't work.  goes through the entire intro but when it comes to the login screen becomes all grey, can still see mouse and all and the music still running.  ne ideas?

edit:  i have a nvidia 6600gt agp card, tried uninstalling and reinstalling grpahics drivers and tried reinstalling bf2 as well
