All i can say is I made the right choice.

I upgraded from a 7900gs 512mb

So far I tested it with crysis and I average 2 to 2.5x the performance (based on fraps)
Also the fan I a little louder than what I expected but when you are kicking ass with surround sound on a fps who gives a shit.

The 7900gs and the 8800gs are the exact same length

That's pretty shitty tbh... Something seems wrong, I run at 1280x1024, all low at 20-40FPS on my 7600GS.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Guess I'll put some settings on Medium then. I will be overclocking though.

1280x1024 is more than double the ammount of pixels than 800x600.
