It depends on the situation. Some examples:
In an attack chopper: just kill
In an armor: stop the enemy armor to protect your infantry, kill uncareful enemies on your way
As infantry: take flags, supply your team with ammo etc.
All in all: win the game. When your team loses tickets, your primary objective should be to take flags...

My main objective is to stay in the computer room hoping my wife dont' bother me.
Well, whatever - capping flags and winning the game is the result of great teamwork, when the teams perform in great symbioses with a good commander they win. :-)

i pretty much play as lone wolf, as squad leader, and sniper, with squad locked with just me in it, i dont like to sit in my favorite spot sniping to have some noob with a PKM run out shooting and get me killed. i never cap flags unless i dont feel like walking to my spot from the next closest one. i always spot armor. i never listen to the commander, and when other snipers sit next to me at my spot, i push them off and they die. why do i do this, well, im sick of noobs. say on my way to my spot, i get hit by M95, not headshot, i call for a medic, 3 medics run past, not one of them helps me. or how about on a full 64 player server and we have NOT 1 SUPPORT, if you run out of ammo, you die, simple as that. or how about commanders, my whole squad is hurt bad, we all need medics and ammo, so i call for supplies, and the idiot gives them to his UAV trailer to repair it, well knowing the spec ops guy is waiting for ammo just to destroy it again. well thats what pisses me off, off to play,

Kill some people, revive one or two on the way to get that flag over there then repeat.
First objective -- WIN at all costs.
Second Objective -- Get the gold medal
And because everything you do to help win get you points it not hard to get big scores. I often ground pound as medic (or support) on karkand and look at combat scores and find im first (above all 6 peices of armor) and im like WTF is armor doing. Also like getting the top flag captures every round.
I wouldnt help you if i knew what you did, id start a kick vote or change teams and continously kill you. You take up a squad for yourself?? WTF for?? if your not going to listen to the commander why have a squad at all. The 3 medics wheich ran past you obviosly have the same selfish attitude as you, and having no support on a 64 player map is unheard of so maybe JUST maybe you should go find them instead of staying in your shitty "spot" probbly protected by a claymore (so they get TKed if they come help) then wait for somone to come to you.

Generally I look to take flags and inturn kill. With the number of retards in pubs I rarely try and work directly with a group, unless I've got some clan mates playing as well (can always do with a revive)
Although it's not very handy if you die often.

It really sucks when you're a commander and your team seems to jsut want to let the enemy cap all the flags. Just happened to me tonight. then everyone was trying to mutiny me because God forbid, I wanted them to cap flags back so we could win.

I don't really cap flags, unless its close to me (look at my stats...100 flag caps at 24k global, lol)
When i'm not playing with my clan members, I really only join squads so I can spawn closer to the action (wont be able to do that much longer ...damn 1.3 )
My main objective is to consistantly have atleast 2 times more kills than deaths (althought now that im trying out different maps...thats getting harder to do), and of course to score a good amount of points.
People say that they don't care about stats...if stats weren't in this game, it'd just be another FPS where your name serves no relavence, and you just play to play, no real objectives.
