I"m trying to get my pool team sponsered cause hey why not.. I'm writing a letter to a few companies of products that we use and could use some tips/help??
im trying to for my hobby as well, just putting a proposal together.
as a tip, its not what the sponsor can do for you, its what you can do for the sponsor.

Offer them some kind of marketing stratergy along with the exposure that the leagues/cups gain that you play in.
I'm not sure of the timing of your pool season but sometimes you need to ask for sponsorship for the season after this one (Thats what I have found over here in UK with Hockey)
Don't be afraid to go after the big companies but present to them some kind of profile and if possible get some youth element to it.

We are a Hoboken, New Jersey based pool team and my reason for writing you this letter is to thank you for all the wins that we have accrued due to your fine beverage. Our team, Monkey Steals the Peach, has made it to the Hoboken finals the past two years running, won the division twice in the past year, and have ended up in the regional finals. The reason I’m telling you this is because whenever one of our players is down and out, we feed them a shot of Jameson and within minutes their game is drastically improved. We were wondering if you offer any type of sponsorship. If so, we would be willing to send you pictures, stats, and video if interested.
This is basically the introduction letter that I have for them.. We're going to Mail it with a team photo... Espn coverage of the vegas APA is really all we have to offer them. Not really looking for much either.

itd be pretty much impossible gettin sponsored by the second biggest manufacturer, they only do the free drives and you have to be world standard to get one, which im not.
im aiming for local businesses, estate agents and so on.
