The militants do the Palestinians no favours but the lockdown only served to justify the militants actions in the views of many Palestinians ...starving Palestinians of food, supplies, power etc. is only going to piss them off and convince them that they need to rise up by whatever means possible. I would say many of them see themselves as being in a 'ghetto-like' situation similar to that of the Jews prior to WWII; they are completely at the mercy of a controlling power.Kmarion wrote:
Israel had tried using softer methods to stop the attacks, including a lockdown on the border between Gaza and Israel. That resulted in a breakout at Rafah, which took the Egyptian government several days to resecure. Other nations had pressured Israel to end the embargo or at least loosen it for food, energy, and medical supplies, but the rocket attacks continue. Hamas started using rockets capable of hitting Ashkelon. Gaza needs to rid themselves of the terrorists before Israel’s military does its work... for real.
Sadly the Israeli mentality is that they are the victims of an enemy that moves among them and around them and that will stop at nothing until they defeat them. Hard line attitudes on both sides just means more deaths for both sides. So go ahead Israel kill loads of Palestinians ...it just means more Israelis will be killed.
