I have internet through my apartment complex included in my rent. Its some kind of broadband and what ever it is its SLOW (or just overloaded with people using it). A lot of the time its barely adequate so I don't want to slow things down anymore....

But I want to get a wireless router so I can use my laptop with out switching wires around.

Will my connection be slower if I'm running though a wireless router? The main computer will still be wired to it.

I can see where it could slow things down...but then again it would likely be able to handle speeds so much higher then what I have it may not make a difference.

Also any suggesting for decent/cheap wireless routers?

No it won't since slow it down, since the bottleneck is the service your building is providing.

Make sure you get some security with your router, especially if your in an apartment complex and there is the chance someone in the building will be able to use your connection.
