Actually, I don't hear people raping children or murder in the name of Christianity. Where do you get that? In a very few modern day cases, some crazy woman or man may have killed because God told them to but there is a difference. We see almost on a daily basis where people are being killed in the name of Islam. People are being beheaded, honor killings, stonings and even radical clerics calling for murder of cartoonist all in the name of Islam.
My wife is a Muslim and of course I know the difference between radical and secular so don't try to call me biased or anti-Islamic....far from it. Now according to you, you can pick out passages in both the bible and the Quran that talk about stoning or killing, yes that is true. But, don't forget how Islam was created and where most of its writings and teachings were based upon. Do a little history lesson. Also, there is a huge difference between how MODERN day Christians interpret the bible and how MODERN day RADICAL Muslims interpret the Quran.
You do not have Christian teachers teaching outdated, barbaric parts of the old testament, there are certain portions of the bible that modern Christians understand is wrong and Christians have progressed from that. They do not teach stoning, etc.. The difference is that there are many places where the word of Islam is followed to the letter even after thousands of years of modern progress. They have NOT progressed from the old writings and will kill in the name of Islam or follow what the local Cleric has interpreted for them. Christianity has grown up, Catholicism has grown up, but Islam hasn't grow up. Are there some extreme Christians....sure....the inbred church that pickets soldiers funerals is a rare example.
In the whole area where I live, I don't know of any Christian churches who have or would teach the more outdated or barbaric parts of the bible. an extreme Christian church is rare, very rare and usually anyone that may have killed in the name of God was probably not in his right mind anyway. On the other hand, Islam extremism is being taught in many, many places around the ME. The Quran is taken literally for the most part and yes, there are many people dying in the name of Islam. Islam needs to grow up or I should say, radical Islam needs to be stamped out and secular Muslims like my wife will and do live in peace and would never subscribe to radical beliefs. She understands that the Quran does not have to be taken as the literal word. She is a Muslim who has grown up.
