Looking into getting a sound card...

Ok so, here is my situation...

This is my set up:

Nvidia 8800GT Alpha Dog Edition
4 GB Crucial Ballistix (4-4-4-12)
Intel Q6600 Quad Core
64 Bit Vista Ultimate

I am currently using on board sound which i don't think is all that bad but, i would like to get a sound card. I have a Sound Blaster SE or something like that...i think it is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6829102010 So is this a card i can put in the system i am using above and have it be better than my on board sound or should i put it in the computer im selling and just be done with it. Secondly, i would like a card i can hook my amp and stereo up to. But i cannot afford to be spending $200 on a sound card. (i have loans, bills, and a gf im tryin to get engaged to).

can someone help me out?

Hi

What speakers are you using? No point in having a great soundcard unless you have semi-decent speakers, otherwise it is just a waste.

Not really, a good soundcard can give you a framerate increase. Even with headphones the EAX affects add some value.

ummm...let me look to see if i can find them. I bought them when i was a sophomore in college....im a year out of college. They have great sound...like suprisingly good but...they arent like 5.1 or 7.1....

CMSS-3D from Creative X-Fi series works well with games in positioning sounds even when using headphones (well, the feature is designed for headphones).

You don't really need Fatal1ty but if you have the spare money go for it.

im trying to get the best possible card for the least amount of money...and a card that can support a 5.1 system incase i upgrade my speakers at some point. I would really like to hook my amp up to it if possible and play the sound of my computer off my stereo (2 BOSE speakers, 3 Sony speakers, and 2 10" JL subs, Sony amp)
