I'm having some issues (I think) with my GPU fan.  I normally put it at 70% but once I go into any 3D application, it goes down to 25% automatically. I'm using Rivatuner and I saved a fan profile but it is still not staying on when I'm playing a game.

It is a stock cooler btw.

try not using rivatuner and see what happens.  if the fan is still fine, you know it's riva.  if not, it's a hardware/driver problem...

buy a resistor liek this one:

I don't know the English word for it, but you place it on the red wire(I think its the red one but I'm not sure)

and now you can speed your fan manual, oohwyeah you should drill a hole in your case so you can turn the resistors resistance

I tried nTune and once BF2 came up the fan speed went down.

I'm using the 169.21 nVidia drivers.

remove all the control software and see what happens.  basically you need to find out if it is a hardware or software issue, then you can go from there...

Manual fan controller ftw.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Well I got it to where anything over my 2D clocks the fan kicks on at 80% and anything lower than my 2D clocks at 50%.

My question is now, why can I only overclock the 2D standard and 3D performance but not the 3D low power?

Edit: Sorry, rechecked and it was 3D low power lol

The 2D low power sounds like a laptop battery power mode to me.

Well I think I figured out that anything I OC in 3D performance is the same as in 3D low power....

But it still runs my game in 2D standard mode and will not put my clocks up for a 3D application...
