I'm at my parents because they have a computer with a floppy drive:  I tried to see what was on the disk but my parents computer says it needs to be reformatted and the floppy disk will lose all information if i do that.

So without this disk working is there any way I can get these drives working?
the floppy is corrupted if it can't be read.  download the drivers again, and copy them to a new disk.  there really isnt anyway around it, and yes, you are having an unbelievably unlucky streak...

I don't know why but it's now booting from the CD but that just spawned a new problem.

I get to the windows XP install screen and I press "R" to do the repair install but then it just opens a new screen that says something along the lines of "No hard disk was found on your system, Windows XP has failed to install, press "ENTER" to restart"

I know the hard drives are working because on start up they show status as "Normal" and "Bootable".

wtf is going on?
It might be because earlier you set all boot devices to CD-rom.

Set the second one to your HDD.

no, its bc he has a sata hard drive, and the windows xp cd doesnt have the drivers to read it.  read through a little more before posting.

Yeah i thought of that yesterday and set the secondary boot device to HD.   But like Steelie said, I needed the SATA drive disk that came with my system, which I found, but it's corrupted(cant catch a fucking break).

So now I'm google'ing like a mad man trying to find find the needed files and make a new driver disk....it's getting pretty close the end though, i'm about to just say fuck it and buy a new HD.

OK really, WTF!?

I finally found the SATA driver and put it on a floppy disk,   I put  it in when prompted to and chose the RAID.   Windows now proceeds with start up but now.....yes, another fuckin' problem....It tells me "Setup could not read the CD you inserted, or the CD is not a valid Windows CD."

I assure you the windows CD is valid and real.  Seriously, wtf?

Lol, that scene has been going through my mind for the last 2 days.

I have 2 Windows XP home CDs.   Both are legit, and have their own valid key....they are both in perfect condition, no scratches at all....how could they both not work....?

I thought at first the CD drive was bad, but if it was bad I wouldn't be able to get where I was.

fucking computers......This shit makes replacing a rear motor mount on my car seem enjoyable.
