Hey guys...so I ran this test with my computer before I got another 2 GB or RAM and i got a higher score....why is this so low now?

My rig specs are:
Nvidia 8800GT Alpha Dog Ed.
4 GB Crucial Ballistix RAM
Intel Q6600 GO Stepping

it was around 5.4 before i upgraded the ram...why so low?

Memory operations per second
That means speed, not capacity.

its not how much RAM, but how fast the RAM is.

i guess you went from 2GB to 4GB(EDIT: read more detail yah, thats what you did)
RAM will be slower doing that.

2GB in dualchannel = fast;
4GB RAM speed = 2GB speed, not in dualchannel;(less fast)

(well... this is what i think)

DDR2 I assume?

What if it's 4gb in dual channel?

it will be the same speed as 2gb in dual channel.

More RAM doesnt make things faster, just gives you more space to store temporary program information (making things quicker if you were using pagefile previously).

Siciliano,  it doesnt really matter because you wont notice the small difference and the extra 1.5GB you have now you will notice when multitasking.

533/667/800/1066/1150/1333 are the speeds...yours is likely to be running at 800.

Could also be you installed ram with a lower clockspeed than the one you had already. That way all the ram take the lowest Hertz to work with.

Is your memory PC 8500? If so its probably running at 800mhz (PC6400) and you need to OC it in BIOS.

yea its PC6400 i want to OC everything but not too much....so there is alot of heat and possible damage but enought o get more performance.  i dont know how though.

Why should you worry about vista bs scoring. All it matters with hardware is that the games you have are playable.

A nice representation that quantity != speed.

Pull two sticks so that you have 2x1GB and try it then. Sometimes 4x1GB doesn't play nice together.
