If you weren't satisfied there is an alterntive ending but I doubt I can post the link here (you can search on a torrent engine).

For people who have seen it, one thing I didn't understand probably due to the fact that I havn't seen it in ages:

Spoiler (highlight to read):
The bit when he turns her over and she has a butterfly on the back. Did he that person or what did it mean. please help me as I am confused

edit: here's a link http://www.gametrailers.com/player/user … 85731.html

I liked the actual ending better, but the butterfly probably represented that she belonged to the leader, she was his wife or whatever

Thought the ending they used was much better........Will Smith sacraficed himself to help the others (remind you of anyone?). The alternative one was more for the kids, they'd understand it better and wouldn't get upset that he died (not that the film was for kids anyway).

the vampire leader or something had drawn a butterfly on the window, it meant that she was his wife or something.

I liked the original. More spectacular, more meaningful. It a makes you think more. This ending seemed really shallow and Disney like.

The butterfly was weird, didn't it crop up mor than once?

But yeah, the woman was his wife/gf. Bit stupid really as usually zombie things dont have much left in the way of emotions

The only ending I ever saw (here in Austria at an English theatre) was the one where the woman took the blood vial up north and found survivors.

Well from what I've come to understand, this ending is more like the books in one way.

Because in the book, as robert neville is killed, (he is executed by the vampires) he realizes that he has become the monster he's been trying to defeat, by capturing, and killing hundreds of the vampires. He had always assumed they had lost all human emotion and that losing fellow vampires didn't mean anything to them.

and in this alternate ending, he realizes that all the head vampire wants is his woman back. He then realizes that he wrongly assumed that the disease victims had no human-like behavior left, and didn't even realize that, in his search for the cure, was killing hundreds of these people.

At least thats how I observed it.

Although the normal ending was to much rushed IMO, I liked it a lot more that this one.
Those contaminated humans should be able to react the way they did in the alternative ending.

EDIT: but seeing what bennisboy said, it also makes some sence. Liked the normal ending better though.

They are in the original book, or rather, their symptoms make them very SIMILAR to vampires.

Yeah, I noticed that too. How he talks about how they show no signs of human behaviour/intelligence, yet that was just him being wrong as they had set a trap for him. As well as going after him to get that girl. (tbh I thought that zombie girl he captured was that big zombies daughter, it was his wife? talk about cradle snatching!)

I didn't like the real ending.

It just abruptly came to a pointless stop.

They better make a sequel.

How could they make a sequal?

With the ending they put into the actual movie, there isn't any possibility for a sequel. The whole point of the movie was for him to find a cure, and he did.

How would make a sequel without the main character and without a plot? haha.
