This all started with a health scare. The officials are saying cats carry disease so the populace are dumping them en masse into the streets, yet read again the first sentence of this OP.

China's a fucked-up place when it comes to animals. They have no idea at all about humane treatment of animals, I doubt most get the fact that animals have central nervous systems and that hitting one can hurt it. Unfair generalisation maybe, but these are people who buy sheep from NZ and Australia and think they're showdogs.

No idea why the Olympics are there, I'd hate to be a Marathon runner. Breathing in all that crap in the air would shave a few years off your life.

I've never really cared much about animal rights tbh. When so much of the world is lacking human rights, it seems like a moot point.

I would suggest we boycott the Olympics this year, but then I realized how hypocritical that would be. China is our most favored trade nation, and until that changes, our heavy trade with them is little more than an implicit approval of everything they do.

Obviously you guys never been there, I been in the poor and rich districts of Bejing, Shanghai, Ghongzhau(i forgot how to spell it) and the village my dad was raised and born from, I have yet to see them eat a cat or dog, when I was visiting the village, the dog's were pets not food, they raised their own chickens, vegetables, and cows sooooooooooooo before you say shit go there first thank you very much.
Their were water cockroaches on the menu... ok well they looked like cockroaches and the waitress said water something in cantonese and lets just say... my whole family in china enjoyed it and I pretty much was like nope.
